[ his eyes slowly start to open—and then snap wide as his surroundings start to register again, every nerve in his body on high alert and rigid with tension ]
[his mouth curves upward, blade glinting in the light]
[a blade in which he plunges straight through Man Eater's shoulder, to pin him to the ground for a hefty 11 damage (6 per dice, +3 sword modifier, +2 heart weapon damage modifier)]
[he, in fact, did not immediately go for the kill, because. . . well]
[feels wrong to just execute a guy who isn't even fighting back right? this is revenge enough for him]
[ he's slowly starting to process what's going on, but not fast enough to see that coming, much less do anything about it. he lets out a pained cry and grits his teeth before his gaze flicks up to Mars and his mouth curves into a grin, all bravado with sweat forming on his forehead. ]
I'm a bit disappointed in you. Was this the only way you could hope to even the score?
[JUST GONNA. LEAVE THE SWORD THERE. . . and then rock back and sit onto the ground next to Man Eater's side. his gaze flickers up to King, then Hiryuu, then Raijuu, then-- well. C is gone. but he has allies. . . he guesses?]

Killing you when you're helpless doesn't feel right.
[and there is a small, tiny, barely alive part of him that doesn't feel good about it]
It's not like I enjoy killing people. I can't appreciate the severity of death when we all come back at the end, but it isn't fun.
[ he snorts contemptuously, but doesn't appear to be making any moves to do him harm. remaining quite still, in fact, only his eyes flickering upwards to glance at Mars. ]
If you killed me while I was out, I'd have even less respect for you...

It's the fight I enjoy, too. But I also enjoy the end result. Or, I don't even know if enjoy is the right word—but I always felt like I knew who I was in those moments.
[is this bonding?? because there's something about that-- I always felt like I knew who I was in those moments-- that resonates with Mars. in the heat of battle. . . no one can control him. win or lose, he is always himself]
And I get that feeling. I really do.
[shifts and grabs the sword handle, yanking it from Man Eater's shoulder to free him. SORRY THAT PROBABLY HURTS but hey! he can move]
So if you want to go again? I'm here. But a fight's no good if both people aren't totally into it. I'll let you leave if you'd rather run. But if I've got a scar from you?
