Escape the mansion and bring evidence of the one responsible for this incident, or die trying.

[ For as long as the game is running, idols will only be able to access the rules on their phones. They may not text/call, nor may they take pictures.

Unit abilities are off. Items are off. Each idol can hold up to 3 items at a time maximum. ]

[ The room's stench is the first thing you notice upon waking up: it's an unpleasant mix of incense, smoke, and metal. Although the room is poorly lit, the light from the standing torches show that the room is quite big…and quite crowded.

Not with living people, of course. You find yourselves surrounded by corpses, mutilated beyond recognition. Vaguely humanoid shapes and limbs indicate these used to be humans, probably…?

The metal smell is more easily identifiable as blood, now—though even if you could not make the connection, the floor is sticky with pools and rivers of red, so it's quite easy to tell that these—people?—met their end right here. In the dim light, it seems like the blood flows more easily than blood rightfully ought to.

Yet, you won't find even a drop of blood on yourself, or even near your body. In fact, the carnage is absent on both your clothes as well as the ground immediately surrounding you, which is just as well because the blood would have otherwise obfuscated the white-chalked summoning circle that surrounds the idols.

You're situated in the center of the room. You can hear running and dripping water in the distance. A button sits on a pedestal nearby - it reads “RESET”.
Against the north is what looks like a map - of what, you can’t tell from where you are.
To the east you can see…water? Blood? pooling at the base of the wall.
Against the south is a table, with an oil lantern and various other objects sitting on it.
Against the west wall is a closed wooden door. ]

STARTING EVENT

It seems your arrival was not entirely without injury, however: the second they stand up, there's a sudden PFT noise from one of the walls and Hardtack finds themself struck in the neck by a blowdart.

The dart doesn't go deep enough to cause any real harm, but the wound does feel sort of numbing...for now.

As time progresses, the idol will begin to exhibit the following symptoms:
Weakness/numbing of limbs
Fever/chills
Dizziness/mind fog
Difficulty moving or staying awake, sluggishness

[still rubbing his neck from the surprise dart]

[ she finally notices him touching his neck, oh no oh no oh but okay maybe if she just focuses on that instead of letting it's blood sink in, ]

It's blood, they're bodies, I'm sorry there's no getting around it.

Yeah, something stuck me when we got here, must've been a trap...

[he shakes his head to clear out the cobwebs already setting in]

I'm fine. We've gotta focus, get this over with.

[ nope. nope n-nope no. she takes a deep breath — which, oops, that's a mistake, she promptly almost gags from the cloying scent ]

I, h-haha, okay … [ nothing about this is okay, she's white as a sheet and looks like she's about to faint ]

I got you. It's fine if this bothers you, it's messed up. But listen: we're gonna try to solve what happened here, then we're gonna go home and do something nice to help put this behind us. This isn't gonna last.

We can move as a group, rather than split up. Let's... check out that wall. There's some kind of signage on it.

[ The map seems to be a map of...not the entire building, but at least this room, the hallway past the wooden door, and the room the hallway connects to? It shows the rooms in profile, from the side, so it's not actually particularly helpful.

Notably, though, the hallway seems to connect to the next room in such a way that there's a very significant drop - in other words, the room after the hallway seems inaccessible without falling to one's death.

Also, this room seems a lot bigger on the map than it actually looks. To the east is a ledge that you don't actually see when looking in that direction. Above the ledge is what seems to be some kind of cistern. ]

GAME OVER

The room begins to rapidly fill with water - it pours out of the east wall so quickly that the false part of the wall slides out and smashes against the opposite wall. At the same time, a hatch in the ceiling opens and more water pours out of that, as well as the suffocating, burning gas. The whole room shakes - it...seems that the building is collapsing inward?

A message flashes on your phones.

One of you may live, but everyone present must decide who. Make your choice.

[ stares down at the message, the phone clutched in one shaking hand. faintly, ]

No! No, you won't "take it"! You're — we're … we're going to be fine, Hardy-san, don't be stupid; we've got this!

We won't be fine for long... Listen to me Korone, if we don't choose they'll just kill both of us. There's no way out of these things sometimes. It can be me. I wasn't able to lead us to a solution for this place, and I'll always be ready to step up for WC. [trying to smile bravely] Can't let my junior take the heat. I'll be OK. I've died here before and you'll revive me in no time. Trust me, please.

This stuff has its own kind of logic, but I could also not be making sense. My brain is on fire and so heavy right now.

[aw c'mere Korone, you're being given a big hug now]

It's fine, let it out. It's a shitty situation. Someone once told me we have to stand by what little choice we get in these no-win times. I stand by my volunteering to get you out of here in one piece. Let me do that, you can pay me back by making sure we get patched up afterwards. Then we can go see Caeli and Rye and do a bunch of good stuff together.

[ Korone finds herself teleported out of the mansion. She's been saved...! The moon is out, shining a gentle light on you as you stand on a wooden platform just outside of the now collapsed manor. Your escape wasn't successful, but at great cost you're still alive. Time to go home and mourn.
