Learning from others is how one learns to act and how to function in society.
But when it comes to having a heart, that's on the inside.
And I've met a lot of people who don't think they're a person even though they're grant at functioning in a society because they are terrified of any self reflection.
If we take this as only the first step in this being's evolution, then by stating it must find its heart on the inside, we are assuming it could never possibly find one later on. I disagree with that, and believe outside influence is what would push it to find one.
This is ... a complicated subject. But I believe it's a journey.
Its definitely a process, but the fact it already has a want to be human proves there is already something inside it that desires. Which means it has a heart.
People can get a complex about how they don't measure up to people even when they're a natural born human. Starting from that point without even acknowledging what's inside could just start them at a disadvantage.
Oh, I'm not as naturally kind as this person, I can't be real. Oh, I can't think of things with compassion in mind, I always think the logical thing, that can't be a person!
That sorta thing. Comparing yourself to others first and foremost just makes you miserable.

Re: DISCUSSION
I don't think that's necessarily the case. But it is irrelevant in the context of this game.
