[ An extra problem when your opponent is practically a living tank. He stands his ground, and instead of going down with that attack, he grabs Intensity mid-tackle attempt and bodily slams him into the tree next to them (str roll: 4 4 6), another potential 6 damage. ]
[But what about a counter counter tackle? Bless, Cobalt, really. (agi roll: 2 2 4 and agi roll: 1 2 4). He twists his body in an attempt to throw Man☆Eater against the tree instead.
For math's sake, that's -2 hp to Intensity and potential 4 to Man☆Eater]
[ he's impressed, really—this fight is turning out to be full of surprises, not just of the volleyball variety. unfortunately for Intensity, Verticality is very good at softening any attack that sends him through the air, and a critical success (agi roll: 1 1 1) means he slows his momentum just enough that he can twist around midair, push off against the trunk with his feet, and try to come back with a kick aimed at Intensity's gut (str roll: 1 1 5) for 5 potential damage. ]
[ somehow he keeps forgetting this is technically a 2v1; he just barely manages to duck underneath that attack (agi roll: 4 5 6 current HP: still 15?), rolling forward over the ground and then back onto his feet in an attempt to put a little distance between himself and this 8x8 robot dragon, though unfortunately puts more distance between him and Intensity, too. ]
[ raises his hand to... catch... it? (agi roll: 3 3 6) did Intensity just throw a trading card at him???? he shoves it into his pocket, he guesses, still kind of bewildered.
Man☆Eater doesn't have many long-range tricks up his sleeve and he has a garbage precision stat, so he dashes forward to try and close the distance between them again—but he loops around the long way so as to keep as far away from Blue Eyes as possible while he does that. if he can get in close enough without a dragon intervention, he'll try and leap at Intensity with a good ol' punch to the jaw when he's in range (str roll: 1 3 3) for a potential damage of 3. ]
[What!? WHAT!? That was supposed to give you the worst papercut of your life. YOU CAN'T JUST CASUALLY POCKET BLUE EYES LIKE THAT. HOW DARE----
Danger danger incoming.
Man, the dice really want Intensity to show off (agi roll: 1 1 6) for a perfect dodge to the punch in the face. And a success for the counter punch (str roll: 1 3 5) for 5 potential damage]
[ wow, Harder They Fall really does work wonders. he turns his head with the punch to soften the blow (agi roll: 1 1 2), but that's still 3 damage taken. ]
What, think the full limits of your potential can't measure up to my average? Well, you're not wrong—!
[ and he slams a knee into Intensity's gut (str roll: 2 2 3) for 3 potential damage ]
I don't want your average! I want your best! And I'll be fucking insulted if you don't---
[ The rest of that is lost in the wheeze of all of the air leaving Intensity's lungs as the knee to the gut is successful (agi roll: 3 6 6).
But that means that Man☆Eater is fucking close. Close enough for Intensity to make a successful grab of that leg (agi roll: 1 2 3 - potential 3 damage) and Blue Eyes to grab an arm between her teeth (pre roll: 1 2 5 - potential 5 damage)]
[ that makes him smile a little, but he doesn't have much time to dwell on it—as Intensity makes a grab for Man☆Eater's leg, he successfully yanks it back out of his grasp (str roll: 1 2 6), only for Blue Eyes to sink her teeth into his arm in the next moment. he leverages one hand against her head and wrenches his arm free (str roll: 2 2 3), but not without sustaining a few long, bloody gashes down his arm, at which he grits his teeth and gives a pained grunt.
sandwiched between the two is not really a great position to be in, so he yanks Intensity towards him to headbutt him in the chest and hopefully bowl him over (str roll: 5 6 6, SOMEHOW suceeds despite being one number away from a crit fail, potential damage of 6). ]
[Man☆Eater will be successful in escaping (agi roll: 2 4 5) from between Blue Eyes and her master.
And Intensity's attempt to trip Man☆Eater as he retreats falls though (str roll: 2 5 6). He is quick to take a few steps back, looking around the forest quickly to see if there is something that can give him the advantage.
Yes, that will work.
Blue Eyes spreads her wings and starts rising into the air]
[ his eyes follow Blue Eyes up into the air, not sure what to make of that.
just to be safe, he darts over to a spot that is more densely packed with trees and thus more difficult to navigate, particularly for large dragons, and watches for what happens next. ]
[Blue Eyes darts forward, her shadow casting over the area Man☆Eater's in from high overhead in the treetops. And yes, that space is way too dense for her to properly land or get a strike at him. But that isn't what Intensity is trying to do anyway.
And a giant burst of energy tears through the nearby trees, causing many of the trunks and branches to snap and break and start falling all around, leaving Man☆Eater to dodge two things: 1) the falling trees all around him and 2) the giant hunk of now busted dragon metal falling from the sky]
[ but he doesn't have much time to gape at the destruction. he furiously dodges the rain of debris as the trees—and dragon—come down around him, floating, weaving and darting in all three dimensions, jumping from trunk to trunk where necessary (agi roll: 2 3 6), but as he's nearly clear, one of his legs is caught under a particularly thick falling branch, accompanied by a loud, crunching sound and a yell. he pushes himself up with slightly trembling hands, but when he struggles to free himself quickly enough with just his own strength, he summons a miniature earthquake until the branch has budged just enough to roll out from under it (strat roll: 3 4 4, +3 modifier to strategy stat from Crumble).
shit. he glances over to where Blue Eyes has fallen—she looks to be out of commission for the moment, but so is his leg. instead of trying to stand up, he floats to his "feet" with Verticality, but since leisurely floating over to your opponent is not ideal, he waits for Intensity to come to him. ]
[Glancing between Man☆Eater to Blue Eyes and back to Man☆Eater again. He's going to have to get through Man☆Eater to repair Blues Eyes. This is not ideal.
But he can work with it]
Don't insult me by calling it a trick. I don't pull out that card for just anyone.
[And attempting to close the gap and land a punch (str roll: 2 3 4). Yeah, that's a swing and a miss. Good try. Though. Good try]
[ he tries to grab that arm as it swings and misses to hold Intensity there (str roll: 4 5 5) and if that succeeds, delivers an uppercut to his jaw (str roll: 1 3 3) for 3 potential damage. ]
[Man☆Eater's not able to hold onto that arm for long (agi roll: 2 4 5), but certainly long enough to solidly connect that uppercut (agi roll: 4 4 6). And Intensity stumbles back, winded and breathing heavily even with "The Harder They Fall" still active.
Current HP: 2. And with no access to his dragon---
Well.
He was always better with makeshift weapons anyway (where the fuck is his metal briefcase). He scoops down to pick up a broken tree branch with a particular sharp pointed end and aims it at Man☆Eater's shoulder like the javelin it is not (pre roll: 5 5 5) for a potential 5 damage]
[ the intense pain of his broken leg must be dulling his senses, because he fails to dodge that strike (agi roll: 4 6 6) and soon finds his shoulder pierced by a tree branch as a result.
current HP: 1.
oh... oh, this is probably bad. he can't walk, he has a serious stab wound, and with his shoulder skewered, he can't even freely retreat. in a last-ditch effort, he makes a grab for Intensity's neck (str roll: 1 5 5), trying to close his fingers around his throat. ]
[Intensity doesn't have the reflexes or the stamina to dodge that attack (agi roll: 4 4 4), and he makes a hiss of surprise and pain as Man☆Eater grabs his throat and cuts off his air.
Even if does miraculously manage to be the last person standing, "The Harder They Fall" is going to wear off, so he's a dead man anyway. And with the panic setting in of not being able to breathe and the hand on his neck (goddamn you, Last Supper trauma, why can't you fucking leave him be). He doesn't want to end this fight looking pathetic and weak.
So why not just---
He reaches to grip Man☆Eater by the hair and pull him in for a kiss.]
[ when Intensity grabs for his hair, he tenses like he expects some kind of attack, but this—this is fine. more than fine. he doesn't release his grip around Intensity's neck, but he easily falls forward into the kiss, lips curving into a smile against Intensity's and heart racing from the adrenaline of everything. ]
The kiss is not particularly romantic or engaging as Intensity is just using it as a smokescreen for the rising panic (that no doubt Man☆Eater can feel under his fingertips) as his brain and body scream for oxygen that is not coming and hands dig into skin where claws had torn through previously.
But the hand gripping painfully tight in Man☆Eater's hair is comforting. As is the smug sonuvabitch grin pressed against his lips.
Enough that he is able to keep (hopefully) some semblance of composure before his body automatically struggles against the lack of air before going limp all together]
[ once Intensity's body goes limp in his hands, he slowly, very gingerly lowers them both back down to the ground, first positioning himself in the least painful way he can with his injuries, then just laying there on his back with Intensity beside him. in his condition, there's nothing really to do but wait for the next round.

Maybe I will!
[He's back on his feet swiftly, pouncing to tackle Man☆Eater, but no. Not even the buff can save his shitty STR stat. (roll: 2 3 6)]

goodboy who studies hard when he finally decides to give a fuck about something.Man☆Eater clips him in the side with the edge of his foot (agi roll: 1 4 4 Current HP: 9) but he sidesteps the majority of it.
