Amnesplora: Liminal Space

Wherever you are in the house, whatever you may have been doing right in that moment

You hear a chime, like a clock sounding the hour. Has it only been that long? No, it can't have been, it must've been longer ... right? Oh well. You're out of time, and now you're here.

Here is a liminal space. It's like a washed out version of the Entrance Hall, so big and fancy, with its high vaulted ceilings and polished oakwood floors, intricate detailing, and the ornate front door. Everything else is shrouded by fog. You can try to find the other doors, you can try to find the foyer, but ... they're not there? Walk more than a minute into the fog and you'll find yourself right back where you started.

If I had to guess he was stalking her, or something like that. Did you see all the pictures they drew of her in the notebook? Yuck.

[ She pulls out the picture, because she wanted to confiscate it out of the same petty spite. ] Here, rip it up.

[Takes his steel fan and slices it to little shreds.]

Ahh that's so cool! [ pardon her fangirlish squeaking! ] I wish I had a magic weapon, that front door wouldn't have stood a chance!

Oh, if I'd had more time I could have tried that. That would have been fantastic.

[no one tell them there's no way it would have worked]

At least if we're stuck here in this creepy fog, we're not by ourselves. And with you around, I'm sure the jerk that put us here will be outgunned. He couldn't even remember where he put his things.

I'll certainly have a word with him. [Fan flutter.] Really, people prone to misplacing their keys shouldn't have four of them for one door.

Honestly. And he left a loaded gun in the kettle! I'd have hated to see what would happen if he tried to make more coffee.

I'm sorry, a loaded gun where?

In the coffee pot. The guy isn't right in the head.

That is an insult to coffee.

I'll say. And who keeps energy bars in the pool locker area? At least they taste pretty good.

I didn't get a chance to try them. ...And I have worked up an appetite...

You want some? They're birthday cake flavor. [ She hands over a couple of them ]

Ah, thank you, you're very kind.

I would introduce myself, but I don't recall my name.

I don't know my name either, but Ada called me Trillium and Viatrix called me Amie. I went through this house of horrors twice but the second time I didn't remember the first time, that would have been convenient.

Anyway, either one of those works fine. Maybe we can settle on a name for you until you remember yours.

Amie is a cuter name, I think.

I do recall being a doctor, but that isn't a name, is it...?

[ She giggles a bit at the mention of it being cuter ]

It's a title, so that's close. But if you want a name too, I'm sure something will sound good to you.

I shall give it some thought. ...It doesn't seem that we are headed anywhere just yet, so I have time to think it over.

I hope you come up with something. It'd be nice to have something to call out when I need a handsome man with a magic weapon.

'Help' would do nicely, I think. I'm sure you'll have plenty of handsome men falling over themselves to be of service.

I think I'd rather be helping with the fight than be rescued. Still, I'm pretty well unarmed [ and very injured ] so I'll give you all a chance to impress me.

What can I say, I like to save myself if I can. That doesn't mean I don't appreciate a team effort.
