THE CHASM

You enter a room split in two by a huge, jagged Chasm, spanned by the (very) rickety old remains of what (probably) used to be a wooden bridge. Do you have a head for heights and a daring heart? Because you might need both, if you're going to get across this.


Something chitters softly in the darkness way, way up above.


There's one door to the West side, and one to the East.

Anyone attempting to cross needs to roll 1D10.
✑ If 1-3: You fall, down, down, down into the darkness ...

✑ If 4-7: chitter chitter chitter chitter a HUGE VAMPIRE BAT the size of a dog swoops down at you, its gaping, salivating maw held wide!

✑ If 8-10: You make it safe and sound to the other side.

[Which is to say, the metal foot breaks through one of those rickety wooden slats. He flails for a moment, trying to regain his balance]

[Okay, he is absolutely not jumping down in there with Hurricane even if he is already dead, so he's trying the door to the East. Hopefully he'll be able to meet up with his companion without any major falls involved.]

[Which is to say, he's out on the bridge when a massive bat swoops in]

[Flying horrorterrors are baked into his muscle memory, though, even if he doesn't remember them - so even while he squawks and backpedals a couple of steps, alarmed, some deeper instinct kicks in]

[Which is to say, he's trying to take hold of this thing's wing and yank it right down out of the sky]
