Conbini over the mall? I feel like there's more stuff at the mall that we could end up finding useful. Then again, it could be bigger and more ground to cover... What's the advantage of the conbini in your mind?
A more limited area - we are trying to escape, not trying to gather supplies. And if we are going to fight, it's probably better not to do so in an area so open we won't be able to see where the zombies come from.
I doubt either the mall or conbini will have anything for us to take. This place is already devastated.
