To trust and be trusted would yield a better outcome than to betray and be betrayed, no?
Ultimately, we cannot control the actions of the other groups. If we choose to betray, we could just as easily be betrayed ourselves, and suffer more, as we could be trusted and suffer no consequence at all. And that is only if we manage to do it with both groups, no?
Do you truly believe that would be the safer option, all things considered?

I believe it's safest for us. It's safest for them but most dangerous for us if we trust them.
I want to trust them, but... I'm not keen to live two of my worst nightmares at once all over again.
