Mori's heart

All at once a rainbow of bright lights feels as if it is bursting through you. It is an intense experience, but not an unpleasant one. As the colours burn through your skin, and lighting begins to spark through your veins, you feel stronger, you could take on the world right now.

Faintly in the distance, beyond the iridescent light show that overwhelms your vision, you can just about make out some silhouettes, but they’re too blurred, too indistinct and too far to tell anything about them. You can’t see them, but you know they’re welcoming you. You’re wanted here, you’re needed here, and the light is guiding you where you’re meant to go.

"Eclipse-kun..."

HSS Mori steps forward, reaching out for Eclipse, but the little one holds him back. The big one frowns, but continues on.

"It's not that I don't think it's possible. It's fine to still have doubts - you aren't wrong. But... It's not just that. I want to give them a chance without being blinded by anger. So many things happened... Things that weren't even their fault, or related to them, and holding onto it like this-"

He gestures at the gun.

"-is just burdening him with a responsibility for pain he didn't cause."

[ Now that he's finally got some context for this he...well, he sympathises, really. He doesn't have all the facts but he can tell Mori wants to move on from this issue, one way or another. ]

I get it. It's just...is this really the only way to accomplish that?

"It's probably not. We should keep thinking on it." Little Mori says quietly.

"What other way would you suggest?" HSS Mori asks.

Isn't there...I don't know, some kind of neutral area? A place where you can have all the mixed feelings you want?

I gues the other way would be to destroy the firewand, but that probably isn't really 'helping' so much as just getting rid of it.

They both wave their hands, "Destroying it would be bad!"

HSS Mori motions to the spiral door, "We could have mixed feelings about it in there. It's a place for good things, but really, it's a place for where anything good could be allowed to grow. In that door," he motions to the black X, "nothing good could happen."

Little Mori frowns, "I wouldn't mind having a more neutral area."

"Well..." HSS Mori hesitates, rubbing the back of his head. "I guess we could? But that's it's own kind of statement. It would still be creating a distance instead of trying to confront the problem."

So...[He looks at middle school Mori.] Are you okay with putting it in the spiral room?

Middle school Mori continues to look uncomfortable when attention is directed to him. "Um, er... I, would rather not..."

Then where? If you just put it back into that room as it is then nothing changes. Unless you're saying you're fine with that?

He fidgets with his hands, "I don't even know what we'd change it to... Sh-Shouldn't, we at least wait, until we have something better? Putting that in there, in that form, would be a poison, and if we don't have anything meaningful to make it into, then it would be an empty gesture..."

They both turn to look at each other, considering.

"That... It doesnt really represent him, but..."

"...But as a representation of our feelings about him, it could work."

"Yeah, I think we've got a solution. Right?" HSS mori says, turning to look at the other one. He hesitates, but nods.

"I, um... I think it could work, until something changes with him... Thank you."

Little Mori's eyes go wide, "Um, which ones?"

"Okay. Okay, that, should be fine."

Through this doorway you enter a simple apartment building. It’s Mori’s home, for those of you that can recognise it from his memories, but much much larger. That’s not the only difference, there are the telltale All Might posters all over the walls, and photographs of Mori and his mom growing up, but there are photos of the rest of Heart Soldier Senshi too. The walls are lined with pictures of the original five, Hiryuu, Hurricane, Spidey and Wire, all growing up alongside Mori. There are photos of the rest of the unit too, but they're all shown as their own age.

The Midoriya household has a normal couch, of course, but it’s surrounded by makeshift mattress piles and blanket forts. The dining table that normally only needs to seat Mori and his mom in his memories has increased in size to accommodate 12 chairs, with mugs of hot cocoa and tea cluttered on it, alongside cookies and meat buns. On the stove, a pot of katsudon is simmering away. On the wall hangs a set of fans, in the corner is an empty bird cage with the door opened, and alongside the All Might action figures are dolls of everyone who has ever been in HSS.

[ ...Huh. Even after getting used to the dorm, he guesses it still feels kind of weird to see an apartment this big. The ones back home aren't even half this size.

He goes to examine the bird cage, because that one stands out admist all the other stuff. ]

An image of Joy, Heart Soldier Senshi's daughter from the princess game, with her bird perched on her arm enters your mind. Touching the cage is bittersweet - love and pride mingles with loss and worry. Where is she now? Was she real? Did you do enough for her? Will she be happy?

The doubt lingers in your mind long after you pull your hands away from the cage.
