[ You have fallen onto a noisy street. After all the cold, the silence, the cacophony of city sounds blankets your ears muffles that feeling of abandonment. The street is dirty, and neon all around you advertises: Gambling! Fight pits! Come get your money's worth, restaurants, bars. They demand attention, and you could walk into any one of them.

Or, you might notice the alley ways before you enter. On the ground there's bodies: chalk outlines around those twisted at strange angles. Like crime scene photos, but you know how you got here. And if you look at the bodies too long, you can see the echo: shadows that are pale rather than darker, of missing wings upon their back.

The crowds on the street take no notice of you, or those bodies. ]

[Listening in on the group that's arguing as he checks out the tongue situation]

[Still kinda ruffled from her shouting match but--]

What's wrong with Aries? Talon said he's hurt?

Lost his tongue...we can fix it when we get back. Maybe let's lay low until things calm down a bit? Let's listen in and look around for any info that'll help us out.

[K well hovering over Aries a bit even though he's like. Dismissive of others' concern, what a jerk.]

Tch. The way we knew's probably closed, so how do we know there's another way? We can't just leave the other guys behind.

There's another way because there has to be. Aries brought the guy....so we're going to take him into the bathroom and ask some questions. Can you watch the door for us? Talon's going to listen in on conversations and try to get some info. We're going to need to be lowkey until things calm down.

[Gonna head for the door then, snagging a nearby chair to turn around and sit backwards in, facing the room but listening for any commotion outside.]

[ Outside there's some commotion, but it was noisy out there when you got in here. It doesn't seem to be stopping at the bar though, staying in the distance. Looks like the people with guns aren't chasing you, at least. ]

[sigh being lookout sucks

Turning her attention to the table of patrons closest to her to check them out. Hell, it's possibly even one of their chairs she just swiped.]

[ They're mostly demons, with various small tells, but the two most animated participants in the discussion are human— occasionally their forms waver and show wounds. The demons participate less, but most all their comments are meant to provoke or support one or the other of the participants. ]

[Gosh she stands out here, all unmurdered human and all. She closes her eyes and scrubs at her face a bit, the weird double-vision is giving her a headache, but she's not all that interested in listening to what they're talking about.

Turning her attention to the door, then. Is there a lock on it? Might be easier (and safer) to just make sure no one else comes in here after them.]

[ The bartender would probably not appreciate you locking his place of business while it's open. But yes, technically there is a lock. ]

[LOCKING IT. Sorry bartender, this is probably a matter of life and death.]

[ Predictably, he objects. ]

Excuse me, Miss! These are business hours! If you are going to close down my business, you need to at the least compensate me for the lost coin!

[ He is being cautiously polite in his objections, being faced with (probably) demons of unknown power, but at the very least he expects to be bribed for this. ]

[WAVES HIM OFF]

Yeah, yeah, just put it on the 'Producers' tab, they can handle the damages. We've got some idiots tearing up the streets outside, you're not gonna want 'em in here any more than we do.

Producers of what? This is for some filming stunt? [ he shakes his head, stern, and goes over to unlock the door— ]

You have the wrong address, none of your producer's people filed any paperwork. If they come looking for you, I am tossing you straight out to them. I do not make a habit of getting in the way of other people's business.

[Stands up and crosses her arm, planting herself between him and the door.]

Sorry, gramps, you'll have to put up with it for a little. Then we'll be outta your hair.

[ he sighs, heavily, and reaches into his pocket.

Surprise, the poor damned bartender also has a gun. ]

Miss, I would really prefer not to have a reputation for shooting patrons, but you haven't even purchased anything.

––What the hell, why is everyone here packing?! No one's even tried to come into your damn shitty bar!

[ Calling over from the dart board where he's talking to a very nice one-eyed man. ]

Coyote! We're not here to make a goddamn scene. Leave the man's lock alone.

[ They animated argument they're having is about the father of existentialism, Sartre.

"You're a traitor to the whole paradigm, to take it seriously! Look, did you even read Being and Nothingness?!"

"Read it, nothing, I've got the thesis memorized! But do you know jack shit about his life? Look, after all that shit he went out and he was politically active and if it was good enough for Sartre it's good enough for me!"

"Then he was a traitor too! I'm here about the ideas, who cares about the man!"

The argument seems really stupid. The rest of the people at the table are basically popcorn.gifing. They're also demons, making comments to egg one or the other on. Maybe they're hoping they'll stab each other (again?). When reality wavers, the one being called a traitor has a few of those. ]
