Castle Game: sensitIV

[Suddenly, you hear the wailing of a horn. Outside, tension is turning to panic. You can't see anything, but you can hear people gathering up their things, sobbing in fear or speaking in harsh whispers. A lone voice calls from the distance:

The enemy approaches!

Upon the map, an unfamiliar geography appears -- several small nations, clustered together. Outside of them, an endless sea of enemy forces, identified only by a symbol of a cracked skull. Each of the small nations is marked with a flag in one unit's colour, and a tiny model of a castle.

You are at war. How will you protect your people and yourself?

No, wait. Just a moment.

[ actively pacing as if he's agitated, before he calls out to everyone - ]

There are currently 39 materials all told, although there is meant to be 36. Moreover, with the progress, perhaps we can see the thresholds of punishment here.

Heart Soldier Senshi has a different sort of castle from us, though they're only one point away. In other words, we're at the very end of the threshold. Then, with WILD CITY at 8 . . . Perhaps we can assume that the thresholds are evenly spaced, with 3 being a severe punishment and 6 being a moderate punishment and 9 as a mild punishment, with 10 being completely protected. Though we can't be completely certain, with the way that these have grouped up and with these numbers, I'm hard pressed to believe there is another tier beyond what we already see here.

It's possible three are just a clerical error - or it's possible that there are three extra in the game, now. If it's the former, then there's little that we can do, but if it's the latter, then that means it's possible to gain extra somehow.

[ with another pause, as he bites down on his knuckle in thought ]

Three extra. It's possible that pep!pep! gave theirs away, and then were targeted by three units. Mathematically speaking . . . mathematically speaking, I'm still reflecting on it, but it's not unreasonable to think -

It couldn't be keeping, of course - it couldn't be gifting, either. Gifting is tantamount to suicide, and our hosts don't take kindly to that. Then, it must be -

There's some sort of situation where stealing will create more in number than there were originally.

Just what happens if someone hits "zero" and is stolen from?

[ we discussed this in discord but i'm posting this for posterity ]

Re: DISCUSSION

Precisely -

Or otherwise, it's possible to . . . for example, split the materials. If one unit is given a gift of one material, but two units target them - then what happens to the gift, which is to go to the units that steal?

But this is harder to determine. We don't know which units will be given gifts, if any.

In the first place, our plan otherwise is to do nothing in this round and see what the third round will bring, so -

It's worth a try.

I am for it. We do not lose anything by experimenting. And pep will not either, if we give back.

[ aaaaaaaaaa i'm dying aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa ]

Exactly - regardless of the outcome, we can return it to pep!pep!. Perhaps we might even be able to help them out of their current poor circumstance.

I see- generate something from nothing, since they are likely martyring themselves.

Perhaps, this is the hidden truth of this game.

. . . You suggest that we steal from Pep, then?
sancrimony: (â™± 007)

[personal profile] sancrimony 2019-06-19 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
- it's an experiment.

In the third round, whatever we obtain, we can give back to them. If it turns out that we gain a surplus, we can decide to give them extra or keep one for ourselves and guarantee safety for ourselves, provided no one targets us.

Regardless - if the outcome is poor . . . if the number becomes a negative then, we'll simply return it. If the number remains at zero and we gain nothing, then we have effectively done nothing. At this point, they're already at a level where it's impossible for them to be worse off, as we'll simply give back what we've stolen. But if it's possible to . . .

If it's possible to somehow create just a little more, it gives them more opportunity to be saved, too.

[ . . . A chance to save them too, even despite the sacrificing themselves. ]

Then... if that is the case I would like to do that. From the beginning, I thought it important that we stay alive for the end of the game. I still do.

. . . But Pep sacrificing themselves means that they will be subject to Lilith.
sancrimony: (â™± 010)

[personal profile] sancrimony 2019-06-19 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
That has yet to be determined. It is by the end of the game that our fates are decided, not "as soon as a unit hits zero" like in the game of platforms.

Perhaps - if possible, we might be able to save them from being sent to that person. Perhaps their fate will still be gruesome, but if this method will generate "something" from "nothing", then we might be able to prevent them from a fate worse than death.
