idolpro | Heart Game: Talon

Was it this late when you stepped into the Game Tower...? Now the sky above is dotted with a few scarce stars, occasionally obscured by some light cloud cover drifting by. Most of the night sky has been washed out by the bright lights of the city which, by the way, is spread out far below the rooftop that characters find themselves on. There's a faint buzz on their phones. When checked, the screen shows a Game Notice:

The skyscraper towers high above the streets, easily dwarfing any other building in sight. The city is some dozens of stories below, and the sound of the wind rushing by is louder than anything that can be heard from the streets. Occasionally the wail of a siren pierces the distance, but it's easier to spot the lights of an ambulance or police car zipping through the roads than it is to hear them. If you look closely enough, and for long enough, you might notice figures in the distance leaping between buildings, sometimes in pursuit of a siren or with an emergency vehicle trailing in the distance behind them.

The roof itself is expansive—the building must take up the better part of a city block, judging by the space available up here. A helipad (sans any helicopter) takes up the entirety of one side of the roof, complete with what looks like a freight elevator for moving things from the roof further into the building. The elevator itself has a keypad lock on it, but a staircase entrance beside it has no obvious lock in place.

The rest of the rooftop is empty save for a small, hooded figure perched atop one of the parapets along the edge of the roof, feet dangling over open air.

1. Powers are on. THIS INCLUDES CANON POWER SETS.
2. Characters may keep any equipment they had on them when entering the heart, but there is a risk it will be taken away during the run. However all equipment taken will be returned when you exit the heart.
3. Significant changes/damage to the heart will reset each time someone new enters an area for the first time. For example, if Bob kills the sentry at the entrance of the heart, the sentry will respawn for Sally when she arrives. This way everyone can experience the different areas.
4. CAVEAT TO THE ABOVE: exceptions made for anyone specifically going through the heart with a partner(s), or anyone who requests to react to damage that's been done. The goal here is to allow everyone to have fun in the heart at the end of the day. ♥ ]

[ The boy stiffens up immediately and stares at her with wide eyes, void of any recognition.

It's the professor who steps up first, moving between North and the child ]

Can I help you, Miss...?

Yeah, I've got a bone to pick with you!

I don't even understand all of this! Why are you teaching this to a kid?

[ The professor looks helplessly at Damian and then at something behind North before looking back at her, his hands spreading in a placating gesture ]

It's at his mother's request, and I can assure you the young lord is more than capable of understanding the material.

His mother sucks.

His mother is our leader. She must not be questioned.

[ He looks pretty alarmed that she would even suggest a thing; definitely more concerned than angry ]

She should!

She's just completely wrong. About everything.

Please, you must not say such things. Lady Talia only wants what is best for her son!

Someone should.

It's not fair that he has to suffer because everyone who should have known better didn't step in and help him!

Miss, it is not...

[ He swallows thickly, glancing back at Damian and then to her again ]

Matters are more complicated than you realize.

You sound guilty.

[she folds her arms across her chest.]

You don't understand— I care deeply for the young lord.

[she looks at Talon and considers what his reaction is, before she reacts any further]

[ He's been watching the both of them with wide, absolutely bewildered eyes. This part of the heart hasn't got the faintest idea what to make of this situation; it's absolutely foreign to him ]

[SHE CONSIDERS FOR A MOMENT.]

... Hey, how about a break? And we can have some fun. That seems like a lesson you haven't gotten, especially from this guy.

He sounds like a bore.

Oh, perhaps! I was just about to suggest—

[ The professor never gets to finish what he was saying. A dagger zips through the air from somewhere behind North, close enough to graze her cheek before sinking deep into the man's temple.

Damian makes a choked off noise, but doesn't budge from his seat. He can't take his eyes off the man as he slumps to the ground in a heap. ]

[SHE'LL FIGHT--

But uh.

yes, she's going to whirl around to see who she's found]

What the?!

[ That's a tall, regal looking woman standing in the middle of the path leading up to the pavilion, another dagger held primly at the ready between her fingers. She strides confidently forward, watching North like a predator looks at prey. ]

Damian, my heart, to me.

[ There's the scrape of a chair across pavement, and Damian pads towards his mother with tense, measured steps ]

[ah.

she frowns, staring defiantly back.]

H-Hey!

[she's going to cast a quick dia, healing herself.]

Are you the one that threw his heart out of whack?

[ Her expression darkens like a storm cloud. She actually seems offended. ]

I would never harm my son in such a way.

You just killed someone in front of him. Someone who was supposed to be a caretaker for him! How is that not harming him?

As if a child like you could understand. I have no need to explain myself to you.

[she pauses, and considers for a moment, before casting sleep again, this time on Talia.]

Carmen, let's let her take a rest.

[ Unfortunately bosses are immune to status affects (thanks to dice rolls)!!

Talia doesn't wait for North to finish her sentence before flinging the dagger right for her, aiming at the swell of her throat. The moment the blade leaves her hand she snatches Damian up into her arms and turns to run, not bothering to stay to see if she's hit her or not ]
