Heart Game: Duality - Round 1

Your sleep is restless, and it's hard to settle as your eyelids refusing to stop twitching, and you can feel an itch at the back of your mind, flashes of uncomfortable thoughts dipping in and out of your dreams, constantly interrupting your tries to relax. ... Are you even asleep?

...

Apparently you were, because you wake up with a start, cheek pressed uncomfortably to steel flooring and flickering lights overhead. Unfortunately, you don't feel very rested at all.
irregular: (that escalated quickly)

[HEY DUALITY WHAT THE ABSOLUTE FUCK

[Death by plushie, this is gonna be fun to explain. K braces himself. Is there a hand rail on this thing? Something he can cling onto while being pelted with plush, anyway]

[Welp. BURIED.]

[Muffled, from somewhere under all these cats:]

You can shrink these things, right?
irregular: (the fallen years)

[fuck he really is just ASS DEEP IN CATS.]

Yeah, I think so! Hang on!

[He's going to start trying to shrink the plushies so they're a more manageable size.]

[You shrink the cat plushies.]
crossmyheartandhope: (Just shine a light into the wreckage)

[FREEDOM]

...thanks, dude. That was a whole lot of cats.
irregular: (for real?)

Re: STAIRCASE

Guess we should have expected it...?

[He looks back up the staircase. Whatever's up there's probably out of cats by now, right?]

You wanna keep going up? I'm not sure that was a warning shot so much as really annoying.
crossmyheartandhope: (I'm like a loser)

Re: STAIRCASE

[personal profile] crossmyheartandhope 2020-02-15 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
No way we came this far just to turn back now.

[Stepping over the (much smaller) cats to continue upward.]

[It's clear that only the cat plushies had the advantage of walls around the staircase. You, however, do not.

There are no railings, nothing to keep you from falling off the stairs into the dark if you stumble. The dark seems to be the same kind of dark that C tried to put his hand into out in the hallway.]
irregular: (the war room)

Re: STAIRCASE

[personal profile] irregular 2020-02-15 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[this seems safe]

[K notes it as weird and keeps climbing because what is he gonna do, turn back? That would mean the catvalanche won, and he is not going to back down to a bunch of plush toys.]

Can you see a top to this thing?

[H... hm.]

[Well. Good thing he's light on his feet.]

[Going to be really careful with the footing and keep pressing upward.]

Not yet. Guess that means we better keep going.
irregular: (well that doesn't look right)

Re: STAIRCASE

[personal profile] irregular 2020-02-15 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Guess so.

[All right, Duality, what you got for us up here?]

... hm. Hang on. I got an idea.

[He snaps his fingers: yup, that's a small fire at his fingertips. How incredibly comforting. Let's put that on the Maybe Never column. On the other hand, can he see any better now?]

Re: STAIRCASE

[The staircase keeps going forever, it seems, as you can't see the end of it with your small light. You might encounter a plush or two, but other than that... nothing. The air of nightmarish feelings surrounding the stairs is the only thing that probably makes it difficult to climb.

Surely it must have an end?]
crossmyheartandhope: (Just like every other morning before)

Re: STAIRCASE

[personal profile] crossmyheartandhope 2020-02-15 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[Surely. Pushing onward.]

...jeez. These things go forever.
irregular: (well that's weird)

Re: STAIRCASE

[personal profile] irregular 2020-02-15 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
You reckon there's anything up here? Or is it just...

[His foot brushes a stray, small-ish plushie, and he picks it up. Squeezes it.]

... cat storage?
crossmyheartandhope: (Just the image of our maker?)

Re: STAIRCASE

[personal profile] crossmyheartandhope 2020-02-15 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I mean... it's gotta go somewhere, right?

Who's got a stairway to nowhere, unless you're like that Winchester lady.
irregular: (gradually downward)

Re: STAIRCASE

[personal profile] irregular 2020-02-15 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Guess we'll just have to keep going. We came this far, right?

[Okay, let's just keep climbing until we get SOMEwhere.]

Re: STAIRCASE

[personal profile] asonoficeandfire 2020-02-15 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[Eventually you reach the top. There's a fancy door up there, as if to a mansion. It's got painted prison bars on it, a little crudely. It also has an old fashioned lock for a bigger key.]
crossmyheartandhope: (Calm)

Re: STAIRCASE

[personal profile] crossmyheartandhope 2020-02-15 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[Slows to a stop.]

...you don't got a key, do you?
irregular: (oh someone's gonna die)

Re: STAIRCASE

[personal profile] irregular 2020-02-15 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh for fuck sake.

[That'd be a no.

[Right, is this thing flush to the floor? Because if it ain't K is totally going to shrink himself and Hurricane so they can get through the crack.]
irregular: (i have a theory this makes no sense)

Re: STAIRCASE

[personal profile] irregular 2020-02-15 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[... and if it IS, he's going to shrink the DOOR just enough so there is a crack and then proceed as above...]

Re: STAIRCASE

[personal profile] asonoficeandfire 2020-02-16 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
[The door is old, so you can definitely find a crack big enough for you tiny people to crawl through.

Welcome to Prison.]
