you can feel it watching you.
whatever it is, out there in the dark, its eyes burning a hole in your skull. its presence overwhelming. it chips away at your mind with its endless hunger, a bottomless void desperate for something to fill it. perhaps it thought you would be enough.
you're never enough.
you never stood a chance, you know. nothing you could have done would have prevented this outcome. but there's no point in dwelling on the past, not anymore. there's nothing left for you there. maybe once there was, but you already fucking ruined that for yourself, didn't you? so keep moving forward. you can't die, you're not allowed to die. that fucking thing would sooner burn this city and everyone in it to the ground than let you perish.
you have no choice, so make the fucking best of it.

that fucking room
the room you're in is a plain square, surprisingly large, and dark except for the sliver of light through the crack of the open door on the opposite wall. it may have been fully padded, once, but much of the fabric was torn entirely away from the concrete walls and left to rot on the floor below, exposing concrete gouged so deeply in places that the internal rebar is exposed.

Oh geez...
This doesn't look like it's gonna be very fun...
[She gets back up and then goes to poke at the light as much as she can.]

ugh. this surely isn't good, but—an open door, and light, well, that's something. immediate problems can be solved. what's outside the door, if she peeks through, first. ]

hallway
the air is less damp and stale, here, the surroundings less damaged. sure, there's some crumbling tile here or a bit of ceiling stained there, but nothing similar to that fucking room. Here, it's open, and there's nowhere to hide.
the lights here are more like dim spotlights than anything; they probably need to be changed...
there are three exits. the north doorway leads back to that fucking room: you can see it locks from this side. the east doorway is slightly ajar, with bright light shining through. the south doorway, at the end of the hall, is a set of swinging double doors.
roll for control.
Re: hallway
It's alarming, but he doesn't have the time to spend worrying about it yet. He takes a deep breath and moves as quietly as he can through the hall, heading for the east doorway to peek through the crack into the next room

surgical suite 1
your presence causes a shadowy mass in the corner to rise, out of place in the bright white of the room, and very nearly eye level with you. It looks like a dog, maybe, if dogs' coats were coated in smoke and yellow eyes opened all over to stare, unblinking, at you.
the only exit is west, back the way you came.

cafeteria
it's clean in here, the overhead lights dim but working, but there's signs of previous damage; irreparably stained floors, bent metal legs on tables and chairs, tables entirely broken but still technically usable folded and propped up against the far wall. between them and the wall, there's enough space for a person to crawl through.
through an open archway, you can see the gleam of the brushed steel of the kitchen appliances, bare and clean, and a set of sealed double doors with a sign to the right of them that says Freezer 1.
there are three exits. the double doors to the north you came through. another set of double doors to the south. a single door next to a window to the east, hanging off its hinges.
Re: cafeteria
but still, it feels like it's not a bad idea to try and scrounge something to eat, and anyway, she's alone. she's going to check the kitchen for edibles first. ]

Freezer 1
it's sparsely populated, mostly by small items in various crates, boxes, and bags, and one large package wrapped in cloth, stained brown. the shelving is high and deep enough to fit under and hide, if one needed to, but the cold makes staying still for too long very uncomfortable.
Re: Freezer 1
she is going to grab the large probably gross package, though, before going to check out who came in. ]

the yard
the walls are all high, twelve feet or so, and the top is solidly secured with metal rebar mesh laced through around the edges with concertina wire, many of the edges rusted and stained. the sky visible through the gaps is overcast and dull, grey.
there's two exits; west, through a door broken off its hinges, and south, to a closed metal doorway.

hallway 3 times the charm
there are three exits.
the door to the east at the end of the hall is locked, with a plaque that reads "Plover." the door at the end to the south is closed but unlocked, with a plaque that reads "Dr. Ogata." the door in the middle to the east is cracked open.
Re: hallway 3 times the charm

surgical suite 2
there are a couple of large containers in the room that are large enough to hold a person or two, unlocked.
Re: surgical suite 2
........but also whatever's going on in here feels like bad vibes.
time to just hide a bunch of the surgical tools and move things around so that if anyone comes in here to do business they'll have to spend like a whole hour putting things back into place. tip that surgery table over. turn the spotlight off. ]

ogata's office
or... it would have been clean, not for the massive monster huddled, unmoving, against the one wall. it's bulky, with thick plated scales running all down its back, its muzzle long and wide with many, many teeth. it oozes from just about anywhere there's a gap between plates or an open space, slippery black liquid pooling under it, color reflected like an oilslick. you can just barely see a doorway behind its body, leading south.
a man stands near it, pausing in pulling his gloves on to look at you. he's just about middle-aged, with short-cropped black hair and a pair of round glasses.
there are two exits, to the north and west.

dorm hall
the first one you see reads:
Female | v1.0
there's another smaller plate below it, in red, that reads
all of the nameplates read similarly, the others having higher numbers, and a good handful of them have additional plates as well.
Re: dorm hall
He doesn't care about any of these doors!! He's going to wait tensely at the door he was just pushed through, listening for any sound of a fight or some other sign that someone's coming through that door after him ]
