Oh, is this your first time attending? That's wonderful, then!
The Countess holds these salons every so often to bring together the best and brightest minds of the world—well, of both worlds, I suppose you could say? People doing interesting things.
...of course, she kindly invites me, too, since most of my family attends.
Oh? [Eichi looks surprised at that.] I can't imagine that's the only reason. I'm sure you have much to contribute as well, even if only because your family might have influence. That is a strength as well, isn't it?
Ah, but how rude of me. I am Tenshouin Eichi, and may I ask the name of this lovely rose to whom I speak?
I forgot to introduce myself—ah, how rude of me. I'm Lady Jane Wiltshire, but really, Jane is fine. I don't really like to stand on ceremony—I'm largely occupied with raising my daughter, but otherwise, most of my time is occupied with charity work.
Ah, so charity work! That's very admirable, on top of the work of being a mother. Are Martians part of your charity work at all? I imagine it's quite common to meet them here. [Seeing as he's meant to learn their language and there are nonhumans here. He's just making assumptions.]
[ she blushes a little, despite herself, at the compliment. ]
Oh, well... I've been doing a lot of work with the refugee situation out of Meepsoor, though I've also been spending some time with the Maozooni in Ideaus Fons. Though, really, most of my work is at the house for women I built in Whitechapel, in London.
...whenever my family can be convinced to let me out on my own, at least. I know I'm but a woman, but I can't just leave the work...
I... I know that feeling. My health is frail, so my parents used to keep me at home more often than not, but it is good that you don't only leave to work, but you get to come to this function as well, hm?
I have been getting to work with Martians a little bit lately myself, but it can be a little hard to communicate at times. Would you have any tips? I'm still quite young and untested yet.
[ she smiles, although there's a tinge of... bittersweetness, to it? ]
I've had the fortune of having some Martian... well, Martians I've been acquainted with. I'm not sure if I could really say we were friends, but—I've learned a lot, from some of them.
I'm not entirely sure I understand all of it, but they don't have family structures like yours or mine—they're arranged into groups called kiimas, that determine their profession. So they tend to think it's strange, if you talk about choosing a profession, unless they're one of the Maozooni.
Could I trouble you for a charitable donation? If you happen to have any influence over low or high society, as well, I'd appreciate it, as I have too few hands for my projects. I'm sure I could do you a favor, in turn.
Re: THE GRAND BALLROOM
Good evening. I'm afraid this was rather sudden for me, but what...might I ask, is the occasion?

Re: THE GRAND BALLROOM
Well, thank you for speaking with me, Miss. It has been lovely, and I hope I get to dance with you later in the night, but I must be off~

Re: THE GRAND BALLROOM
[He'll offer a high society influence, however that looks ICly.]
Re: THE GRAND BALLROOM
I'm glad I could help! I hope you have a lovely rest of the evening.
Re: THE GRAND BALLROOM
And you as well.
[With that, he will leave her, heading for the observation deck.]
