My, do I feel under-dressed for such an occasion.

[ this personage is tall, lanky, and speaks in an odd languid accent that reminds you of Paloma's—they're clearly of the same people. They're dressed in ceremonial armor and a lot of very elegant, very crystal-spires-and-togas fashion. ]

Well, it's not your fault. Terran fashion seems to be quite limiting.

[ he lifts his arms, helplessly. ]

So it seems! Do you have any idea where I may find a change of clothing?

Well, unfortunately, my second spouse, who's a clothier, wasn't able to attend tonight. Perhaps you could borrow some of the livery for the servants? Or you might be able to exchange someone who's always wanted to be one of your priests.

Very well, very well. Are there any particularly devout party-goers you're aware of?

Oh, devout... well, I get the impression plenty of the British elite consider themselves to be devout Christians, whatever that means to them. I'd ask one of them for you, but they're of a bit mixed opinions on me and my spouse.

I suppose so, but even then ... being a man of the cloth feels as if it ill suits me!
