IMPOCALYPSE
BATTLE MECHANICS
Note: characters that are heavily injured may acquire corruptions. There will be heavy maiming.
- This is a turn-based fight. PCs will take their turn, the boss will react, and then the boss will take their turn. Players will react and take their turn, and so on and so forth.
- You may take up to six actions in one turn, including dodge. You may attack up to 6 times if you're not dodging, and you can attack even if you are dodging or fail to dodge. If a swing delivers more than one attack (throwing multiple projectiles at the same time) then it's counted as one "action".
- With every strike/blow/attack, .roll 1d6 twice (or !2d6. MAKE SURE TO DO IT THIS WAY BECAUSE NADEKO IS A TRAITOR. The first dice determines whether your attack succeeds or fails, with 1-3 as fail and 4-6 as success. The second dice determines how much damage you inflict on the boss. Please include both numbers with your comment on your turn.
- Roll for every strike, not for every turn. If your character decides to shoot 4 times in succession, roll a 2d6 for every bullet.
- Green text can be dodged, but red text is guaranteed damage. Dodge by using a 1d6, 1-3 as fail and 4-6 as success.
- UNIT ABILITY MECHANICS ARE HERE, but please note: this is not the end-all be-all of how these powers can be used, and these are not the only powers that can be used in a fight, these are just the ones that affect rolls specifically. The session's runner always has the final say, so ask if you want to do something cool but you don't think it's street legal. (It probably is.)
Note: characters that are heavily injured may acquire corruptions. There will be heavy maiming.
EFFECTS LIST
- Black substance, both sticky and acidic
- A sticky substance that seems to cling to everything it touches, and is impossible to pull off. It melts through flesh, but the more it melts, the more it seems to become absorbed. Sufficient absorption of this substance in any capacity (skin absorption, digestion) will result in corruptions that may be permanent. May be removed by severing the affected area, or by bringing the affected area to the deadzone.

PLAYER ACTION
Re: PLAYER ACTION
she'll rush forward with staff in hand as the bark coats her skin, to use the momentum of her body weight to swing the pole full-force at whatever traditionally "soft" parts of the body the nearest demon might have-- nose, neck, solar plexus, groin, whatever.
rolls: 2 to miss like a fuckin loser i guess. girl bad at staff, ]
Re: PLAYER ACTION
or it would be if older rifles weren't shit. she unloads literally an entire chamber and they all FUCKING WHIFF (1, 1, 1, 3, 2, 1).
Oh this isn't good, even from range. ]
Re: PLAYER ACTION
Did you know that motorcycleback archery is basically just the same as horseback archery, except way cooler? She comes zooming through at 80 mph, breaking violently to slow down into a slide to take aim at both demons, firing once at each. ]
2, miss!
4, 4 damage! ]
Re: PLAYER ACTION
[Perhaps I should have stayed inside because that's a lot bigger than the imps.]
[But there are other people here and running means abandoning them and that just won't do and he's running forward, watching the demons, and he's been using the frog materia enough to know the cast time.]
[Letting it take effect as he gets close to the demons to change his height from six feet down to the height of a komodo dragon on it's four legs to let himself move down low to get behind the demons and then whip around to launch at their backs-]
[Except that's a little too fast for him with a 2 so doesn't quite make a proper leap at their back, but hey, they got a nine foot lizard at their backs.]
[2, Miss. 5, damage.]
BOSS REACTION
Oops! ]
BOSS ACTION
One takes a swipe at Cypress, trying to slam her into a tree while it barrels toward Paloma, dozens of small hands reaching out to grab her by her gun to crush it, squeezing one of her arms to snap the bones like twigs. Black tar starts to burn where she's held, and the demon picks her up to throw her into the air.
The other reaches for Rye, grabbing him to swing him at Kir Royale. ]
PLAYER (RE)ACTION
Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
she's still got one hand free, though, so—wincing through the pain, she reaches for her bag to fumble for a lighter while changing the water in one of the bottles in there to pure alcohol.
she attempts to drop a molotov on its face. however probably owing to the fact that she's in intense physical pain this does not remotely work at all. 1, rip.
also rolled a 4 to try and wiggle her way out of the thing's grip? she's trying to retreat. ]
Hey, Gia.
You might win this one.
Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
[There's a pretty horrifying snarl as he falls back with the impact and he rolls across the ground, but there is something to be said to being USED to not having a limb. His leg hurts, but he's still got three others, and there is enough training to know you do not stop moving.]
[6]
[And komodo dragons are fast even with a pained leg, he's scrambling out of the demon's reach, moving towards the telephone poles.]
[And gonna launch himself up high at the demon not with Paloma to try and try and claw it's neck!]
[Except that's another 2 then 5 because dice hate me so it's probably more he tries and just hits the ground and rolls across it again.]
[Ow.]
Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
She slams back into that tree with a choked noise, stunned for a moment, before rallying and pushing off to close the distance again, aiming to try to slam the staff.
5 hit, 5 dmg. ]
Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
[ with a roar she drives at the demon, leaping off her motorcycle to let it just slam into it (3, miss), firing a shot while they're in the air (4, 6 damage), before hitting the ground running to charge at the demon grabbing Paloma to try and stab it in the throat with a knife (6, 2 damage). ]
BOSS REACTION
In the girlsquad corner, the demon's slammed with Cypress's staff, stunning it long enough for Paloma to pull away and for it to take the bullet and the throat stab—the motorcycle crashes and explodes to the side because cool girls don't look at explosions— ]
BOSS ACTION
With a cry, the demon swings back, grabbing Kir Royale by the back to try throwing her at Cypress.
Rye's demon, meanwhile, has taken to try stomping on the lizard to pin him down. ]
PLAYER (RE)ACTION

she can't move, so: this is where she ends this fight, probably. ]

Fuck. Gia—
Re: done
Re: done
Re: done
Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
[FUCKING OW.]
[He's a big lizard, but demon is bigger and that is crushing, but no, no, NO THIS IS FINE.]
[Swiping at it with claws and tail, but both are absolute whiff attacks, with 3 and 1, but all he needs is contact.]
[Because Frog Materia is Touch Based.]
[AND GONNA TURN THE DEMON INTO A PORCUPINE]
Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
and then she's running over to Paloma - ]
Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
she carries on, focusing still on the demon she and Ruby were fighting; lurching forward as Ruby flips it in an attempt to shoved the staff into its face-- preferably down its throat, with as much weight behind the action as she can muster(4 hit, 4 dmg).
As she does that, she reaches for the knife Ruby had abandoned in the gut of the creature, to try and grip and yank, roughly twisting as she goes(5 hit, 5dmg) ]
BOSS REACTION
On the girls' side, Kir Royale's savage blow is enough for it to recoil back, exposed for Cypress's staff attack. As it's knocked back, the knife is yanked, twisted—and all at once, it poofs into black mist with a dying shriek.
Rye's demon turns into a porcupine. ]
