When you close your eyes, bone-deep fatigue crashes over you like a wave—almost like it was just waiting to catch up to you the minute you stopped moving.

Within the darkness, you can just barely hear the echoes of distant voices, too faint to identify . . .

"Jealous of his normalcy? Maybe just a little."

"Man Eater is so scary! Man Eater is a killer! It's all very alarming but. . .that's all there is, isn't it?

Neeheehee, brutish as you may be, someone like you will never be more than that. You'll kill, and you'll die. Over and over, until it's permanent some day."

"And you're the same... Hitoshiki! The truth is you're just a serial killer who's only good for killing—so why are you going to school like some normal kid?! Leading a dual life when you don't even have a dual personality—it's not fair! Why only you?! It's not fair!"

"It's better not to fight, sometimes. I feel kind of sorry for you..."

"So what it comes down to is this. Would you rather stay what you are, or be happy?"

Gradually, those voices blend into the hum of a bustling crowd... naturally enough to make you wonder if perhaps you were just hearing things, after all.

Man☆Eater turns around with a grin. "If anything, I'd say it adds to the flavor. Yo, Glory."

[she seems a little surprised he recognizes her. this felt like a memory or something else she wouldn't be a part of]

Hey. What are you guys up to?

Man☆Eater jerks a thumb at Hitoshiki. "I'm crushing this guy in every possible arena. Gyahaha."

...Oh? What's next, then? Maybe I should see if I can best you.

"We were just about to go for a round of darts." Man☆Eater sizes Glory up and grins. "If you're gonna join us, we might both be in trouble, though."

Is that a no, then?

"I didn't say that. Where's the fun without a little challenge?"

He goes ahead and starts leading the way to the darts booth.

[Yeah she figured as much.

She goes with them]

Man☆Eater slaps a hand down on the booth once they're there. "Heyyyy, we'd like to go a round."

"Sure thing!" replies the student at the booth before handing over a set of three steel tip darts and clearing out of the way.

[looking over the darts and the target]

Who's up first...?

"Wanna rock-paper-scissors for it?" Man☆Eater suggests.

...Sure.

[holds her fist at the ready]

"One, two, three—!"

Man☆Eater throws out rock. Hitoshiki throws out scissors.

[Glory also throws rock.]

...Tie.

Hitoshiki clicks his tongue. How could scissors fail him?

"Hmm." Man☆Eater picks up a dart, twirls it, then hands it to Glory. "Ladies first, then."

...Sure.

[She takes the dart and then smoothly moves to throw it. She IS pretty good at this]

Indeed she is! Since it's Glory, she can probably even get a bullseye.

Hitoshiki whistles low. "Kahaha. Not bad."

Man☆Eater cackles and applauds. "Gyahaha! Well, what else would you expect from Glory? Whew, I knew we were gonna be in trouble."

[that's surprisingly gratifying]

Mm. So let's see if you guys can keep up.

Man☆Eater is up next. Precision and fine control are... not actually one of his strongest areas, so while there's a lot of power behind the throw, it doesn't land quite as close to the center as Glory's. He tsks.

[She glances at Hitoshiki.]

Only one challenger left. Well, let's see if you can even manage second place.

Hitoshiki picks up a dart and twirls it.

"Luckily for me, we just happened to pick my best game."

And that doesn't seem to be just bluffing, since precision does seem to be one of his strengths; his dart lands right to Glory's.

Hmmm. Not bad. Maybe we should pick something more challenging...

Hitoshiki swells with pride, definitely letting his one victory over Man☆Eater get to his head.

Man☆Eater tsks again, but he doesn't actually seem too bothered by the outcome. "Did you have anything in mind?"

...Loser picks the game. Make it a good one, though.
