princess maker - Heart Soldier Senshi

[ When you insert the key and open the door, you'll find yourself in a humble cottage, in what seems to be the living room specifically. There are several doors, but a specific one catches your eye: simple in its decoration, the door has a cute little wooden plaque with flowers carved into it. Though the door is closed, you can see through it—as if it's somewhat transparent.

A wooden cradle sits in the room beyond, which is otherwise plain. Inside, a baby sleeps peacefully. When she stirs, calling for her parent, you are there to cradle her back to sleep. ]

[ Slowly, the scene changes, fading in and out with various silent scenes—the baby coos pleasantly, giggling jovially when you (presumably) make faces at her; she tries to pick herself up and falls over, but she does not cry; a disagreement between you and her lead to a thoughtful discussion; the young girl carries a large laundry basket to do chores; she buys a pet bird, looking so proud for having earned the money all by herself; then the wall becomes opaque. ]

[ In the middle of the open doorway, a young girl the age of 10 stands, smiling at you. A bird with beautiful plumage rests on her shoulder.

This is your daughter. You tried your best to rear her, and she's been good to you. You know she is capable of anything if she puts her mind to it - even becoming a princess. But you also know it's not easy to become a princess - she'll have to work hard, and she's capable of it but you'll have to guide her hand, most certainly. Better she become a princess than go off to war, though; you could not stand to see your baby girl die on the battlefield. Whether she actually becomes a princess or not . . . well, that's up to fate, isn't it? All you can do is try your best. ]

You find yourself in a moral dilemma. . . the shopkeeper claims she caught your daughter stealing, and they've reported to you that it is a small object—just a metal ring, costing no more than five pieces of gold. Still, the shopkeeper emphasizes how important it is that stealing not happen—but your daughter claims she did not steal the ring at all.

What do you do?

Joy... Can you tell us what happened in the shop?

Joy looks to you in distress.

"Papa, I - I was just looking at it with my friends, and then . . . someone yelled 'thief' and then the shopkeeper came and said that someone saw me pocketing it. I didn't, though - I swear I didn't!"

We believe you, don't worry.

[ OKAY SO after some discussion, the party is dividing and conquering to get the evidence they can.

MORI and ECLIPSE are going to go talk with the daughter/parents to find out what the deal is there, if the girl's lying, what's up.
HIRYUU is going to go speak with the Shopkeeper and find out what evidence, if any, they have that it was their daughter that did anything, and if the ring was found on Joy's person, or at all.
HURRICANE is going to talk to the crowds / people who were there at the time for neutral third party accounts to find out if the girl from Part 1 was present at the time this happened.
KITTEN is going to speak with Joy's friends who were present at the time to get what they saw--was the other girl there? Who took the ring?
ABI is staying with Joy to play with her and keep her cheered up. ]

You divide and conquer!

The accusing daughter does not want to speak to a thief's parents - and the parents don't particularly seem very warm, either. They believe in their daughter - she'd never lie to them, after all.

The shopkeeper only has the words of the daughter to go by, but the daughter is an honest girl and her parents are very loyal patrons of her shop, so why would she disbelieve her? She did, after all, catch Joy holding the ring like she was going to pocket it. Well, she couldn't see it very well, but that's obviously what was happening.

The shop wasn't particularly full of people at the time - the friends who were there do speak up and say that Joy wasn't stealing, that she was just looking at the ring. They note that the shopkeeper did take the ring back, so everything should be fine.

All in all, because the ring wasn't actually stolen, the shopkeep doesn't press any charges and all is . . . well? Well, nothing really . . . changes, much, but your daughter trusts you much more because you stood by her side and helped her through this.

Your daughter's temperament is fair.

Your daughter's morality is good.

We clearly need her side of the story first.

Yes. I'm worried. This is the second time our daughter's been accused of stealing.

We need to find out why she thinks Joy did it, where Joy was when the theft happened, and if Joy knows who actually did take the ring.

Yeah... before we do anything, we better hear both sides.

We'll have to ask her to find out. It's worrisome, though. I hope she's not doing it; we're giving her everything she needs, aren't we?

At this point that seems to be the minimum step we need to take to resolve this issue. We need to find out if it was actually her or someone else. And if it was, then we need to settle this, and otherwise--find and put a stop to whoever's responsible.
