princess maker - Heart Soldier Senshi

[ When you insert the key and open the door, you'll find yourself in a humble cottage, in what seems to be the living room specifically. There are several doors, but a specific one catches your eye: simple in its decoration, the door has a cute little wooden plaque with flowers carved into it. Though the door is closed, you can see through it—as if it's somewhat transparent.

A wooden cradle sits in the room beyond, which is otherwise plain. Inside, a baby sleeps peacefully. When she stirs, calling for her parent, you are there to cradle her back to sleep. ]

-

[ Slowly, the scene changes, fading in and out with various silent scenes—the baby coos pleasantly, giggling jovially when you (presumably) make faces at her; she tries to pick herself up and falls over, but she does not cry; a disagreement between you and her lead to a thoughtful discussion; the young girl carries a large laundry basket to do chores; she buys a pet bird, looking so proud for having earned the money all by herself; then the wall becomes opaque. ]

[ In the middle of the open doorway, a young girl the age of 10 stands, smiling at you. A bird with beautiful plumage rests on her shoulder.

This is your daughter. You tried your best to rear her, and she's been good to you. You know she is capable of anything if she puts her mind to it - even becoming a princess. But you also know it's not easy to become a princess - she'll have to work hard, and she's capable of it but you'll have to guide her hand, most certainly. Better she become a princess than go off to war, though; you could not stand to see your baby girl die on the battlefield. Whether she actually becomes a princess or not . . . well, that's up to fate, isn't it? All you can do is try your best. ]

I'm saying we should be prepared to leave town and try to make a life somewhere else if this continues. I would rather have them suppose that they were right but be beyond their clutches than to suffer what might happen if they start pinning large crimes on her.

[ Jail... hurting her... killing her... ]

...Hiryuu-san, we're at playground bullying and you want to start planning for them pinning crimes on a ten year old?

[ that? actually? really stings????? ]

How long do you think it's going to stay petty playground bullying? I would have thought, of all people, you'd understand how quickly and viciously ostracization and bullying can escalate!

That's not a normal level of escalation. What you're thinking of... That's really far, Hiryuu-san. That's not something I've ever had to face. I know it's been that hard for you, but, that isn't how it will turn out every time. And okay, it's a game, and games are terrible, and it might go that far if we're not careful, but... The words of a ten year old aren't credible enough to get Joy sent to prison, and we don't even know that her parents care. They didn't seem to want to get involved at all when we spoke to them.

I don't know how bad things will get. I hope they won't go that far... Having to flee your home, that's not something I want for her. We can't let it get that far.

[ man and she hasn't even REMEMBERED how bad it was when it happened. but. well. eventually.

she pipes down at that. maybe... he's right? maybe he's right, and she's wrong. how many times has she been wrong about people before? in fauxkyo in particular. her heart--it has a feeling, and a strong one, that something's wrong (don't apples fall from a tree, where would these children learn such deceitful behavior and such an ease with othering the people around them, this whole place is just a trick of the producers, designed to unravel and upset them)--

but it's mori. and if mori says it's... not the case... then.... ]

Fine. I don't know how much stock I put into that being the case. However... you have a plan for her, so I'll go along with it. I want to look into what's going on in this city, though.

[ She won't be able to believe, until she's made sure herself, that there's nothing wrong going on here. ]

Looking into this city is a good idea. We need to know more about what we're dealing with.

[Mori hesitates, then reaches for her hands.]

Things... Might go bad. They always can. But I don't think they'd spring it on us this early on, the game needs us to be in this town so I don't think they'd set up a situation where we had to escape it until the end. The nobility isn't going to come for us this early, if they do.

I know you're worried, and you don't want anything bad to happen to us or to Joy. And investigating and being cautious is smart, but let's try to be positive for her for now, okay?

[ she doesn't move her hands from his but she looks. uncomfortable. her situation... running from the armies.... ]

Right. Of course. Kitten and I can go investigate. I think we're mostly the ones who have a problem with the way people are behaving, so... it makes the most sense.

[We are the army!!

God look at her she's so uncomfortable is he being too harsh? He doesn't want Joy to grow up thinking she has to be paranoid about losing everything and he doesn't want Hiryuu to constantly think she has to be at her most aggressive and defensive or everyone she loves will be taken, but is he really going about it the right way?]

Okay. The way people are behaving isn't right, but, there's lots of reasons why. Rich people are kind of just like that sometimes, but keep an eye out for anything suspicious. We'll be counting on your reconnaissance.
