[ Another quake violently shakes the heart.

There is no holding it back anymore.

It has come.

Another tremor, worse than the first causes the earth beneath your feet to toss unsteadily, causing you to topple to the ground unless you’re able to find purchase upon something. A low, deep rumble sounds from beneath the earth. The sky darkens and the air becomes thick with unease- a sudden weight hanging upon each person’s heart and threatens to overwhelm them with despair. The feeling that you have failed before you even began creeps into your consciousness, reaching into the recesses of your soul to grip your heart tight with invisible, black threads. Color, sound, sensation, everything disappears suddenly except for a deep void of nothingness that feeds upon your heart and feelings like greedy roots that have taken hold of you.

It is ugly and dark. How can you hope to win in the face of this...?

All characters must make a sanity roll. ]

[ The terrible, terrible feelings permeating the air miss you, for now... ]

[ 16. She should be okay, in spite of the terror that attempts to grip her: she keeps her hands steady on her bow and arrow, grits her teeth, and waits for her enemy to make itself seen. ]

[ For now, you manage to fight your way past the bleak, dark, feelings... ]

[Northstar places her hand over her hand. She feels her legs start to buckle. She starts breathing in and out, not physically out of breath but mentally rocked.]

[She's trying to stay on her feet, at least.]

[Not that it makes Wednesday feel any less terrified because haha fighting is awful and what is she supposed to do about this with acorns again?! but at least she's not terrified and sunk into despair, right?

[ The ugly feelings recede a little, fought off by your strength of will. But when you look down, you realize that while you were swept up, dark vines have loosely begun to entangle their way around your legs. They are easily shaken off for the moment, but there is no end to them. The earth continues to rumble and shake. Beneath the surface roots begin to tear themselves up from the ground, ripping through anything in their path as gigantic flowers begin to combine, growing and melding together and reaching skyward.

As the monstrous flowers begin to take shape, towering well above you, the serpentine-like form it begins to take is...distinctly like that of a dragon. It roars and the sound is-- pained. That’s the only way to put it. The dragon of flowers and vines thrashes around wildly, it’s tailing stomping the ground dangerously near you.

For a moment there is a pause. The massive beast breathes heavily before empty eyes turn down to the party below-- and it is clear that it fully means to attack. ]

[Something almost seems to make her hesitate. But she grits her teeth and swings her arm out. Her dragon claw suddenly expands.]

I can't allow you to bring any harm to this place!

[She rushes forward and swings the giant claw into whatever part of the dragon she can reach. 10+9=19, then 2+4=6]

Even though he technically passed his sanity check, I guess this freaks him out enough that he hacks reflexively at the vines but doesn't actually hit anything in a way that does any damage. (12)]

Not so fast-- We won't let you...!

[ Serenity takes aim with her acorn slingshot and hits (11 + 5 = 16), dealing (3 + 2 ) 5 damage. It's... super effective, apparently.

Those are serious acorns. ]
