Nemesis Heart - R2
[The first time you try to open your eyes, there is nothing but red.]
[Questions bubble up, voiceless:
What will you keep?
What will you change?
What will you do?]
[And then your eyes open.]

SOMETHING IS HAPPENING,
[You're aware of a sound--you feel it more than hear it, the ground rumbling beneath your feet from the pressure. It's like a stampede of horses--like a million wings flapping. It's like trumpets--like every trumpet, all at once, playing a different tune.
You think, perhaps, you should leave.]
Re: SOMETHING IS HAPPENING,
...jesus. What is that?
[He lets himself be tugged by the animatronic chipmonk pulling on his arm, but he's too busy staring to be fast about it]
Re: SOMETHING IS HAPPENING,
What is that?
Re: SOMETHING IS HAPPENING,
[Then, more hesitatnt, at the sound of wings:]
...angels...?
Re: SOMETHING IS HAPPENING,
It is rhomboid and red and makes your eyes hurt to look at it too long, and your stomach drops to look at it, your knees shaking.
You can stand and fight--you can turn and run--it doesn't matter. It swallows you into itself all the same, absorbing you with blazing, searing red.
But of course this happened. You aren't good enough to have done better. You're weak. You're worthless. This is what you deserve.
And you burn from the inside out.]
1/2
[The getting scooped up when he turns to run, the burning from the inside out, the sickening pulse of not-good-enough that thrums through him]
[He's lost in it for a long few moments, swallowed whole by it, consumed by the razor-sharp knowledge that he's just as worthless as he knew he was, all along]
2/2
[He toggles on Buddy Bond, if it's there for him to use. Even if it isn't, he presses out with the conviction - a single success, bracketed by failures - that although this might be right for him, is right for him, it's wrong, if it's hers. It doesn't belong here]
[She doesn't deserve it here]
Re: 2/2
[anyway, at some point, this]
Re: SOMETHING IS HAPPENING,
[ I was just here to have some meat buns and a good time. ]
Re: SOMETHING IS HAPPENING,
[...It does not seem to be approaching you, however. Perhaps you and the dog man can ride it out unnoticed]

For two, don't break things that're s'posed to be not broken.
For three... Have fun! It's the happiest place on Earth!"]
Re: SOMETHING IS HAPPENING,
Are all the closed places clearly marked?
Re: SOMETHING IS HAPPENING,
He points to where the geometry is floating off, temporarily sated, back into the clouds. His body language goes back to loose and open.
"Anyways, you still hungry? Or, have ya seen the castle yet? Gotta seize the day, right?"]
Re: SOMETHING IS HAPPENING,
Is the castle an okay place to visit?
Re: SOMETHING IS HAPPENING,
He smiles back, guileless]
Re: SOMETHING IS HAPPENING,
... I'll take a look then. Thank you again.
[ Traumatic disney castle time. ]
Re: SOMETHING IS HAPPENING,
[anyway the sun is shining and it is a pleasant walk! Goofy waves, friendly]
