[ You all wake up in bed with your smartphone at your bedside, all of you in your sleepwear, with a message on your phone.

Good morning, newly departed guest stars! You've got new co-stars to meet, a new dorm to explore, and the television in the main room with the "names" of everyone in your unit with flashing empty boxes next to them, waiting for you to each assign yourself a personal color as well as a mythological creature (if that is available to you—some of you will have that option grayed out). Or assign them to each other, really, no one's stopping you.

Once you've chosen your color and creature (or, once it's chosen for you), your closets will unlock with 3 sets of traditional Japanese clothing fitted exactly to your size. Additionally, upon choosing your creature, you might find yourself suddenly with some new appendages (check Player Notes).

Also, the front door is currently locked. It looks like you actually have no choice but to get to know each other for an hour or two before those open up. ]

You don't share their resemblance overmuch, looking at you more. But it was a pleasant surprise.

What does 'Tessera' mean?

The tesserae are the smallest pieces that form the life-mural; those people and places that close the gaps, create structure, and fulfill the image.

We are here, we have met and spoken, you are contemplating a name for this old wandering dog. Now, you are an immutable part of my life.

For you, I considered 'Sanga,' written with the characters for 'coral' and 'fang'... but, it feels a much shallower name to give in exchange.

[ looks back at her, after a moment. ]

If "Sanga" came forth to to you, I would be content to be called such. It is not as if I have exchanged others the same choice, and it is a lovely name.

... though the reef may be shallow, one must only choose to traverse beyond it to reach the depths. We have ample time to get to know one another. Meaning is formed from wealth of experience, after all.

It isn't-- wise, or anything that meaningful, so I'm sorry to have mislead you. I'm simply... I've had a lot of time, to think.

... but more importantly, I should thank you, Tessera. It has been many years since I have been more than Eidola.
