Mm. Light is a type of energy classified as electromagnetic radiation - there are a lot of different types that are all different sizes, but what is seen by the eyes is "visible light." It's only one small part of what makes up light - it's a little like an organelle inside of a cell, isn't it? But - even light that is visible through these sorts of bodies comes in different sizes. Red is the longest, while violet is the shortest ... in the speaking of one school, that's the reasoning behind the colors of the sky too, but -
There is red light, orange light, yellow light, green light, blue light, indigo light, and violet light - and white light, which contains all seven. In reverse, a rainbow works like that too - ... when white light comes from the sun in the form of sunlight, it can be caught and reflected by droplets of rain at a lot of different angles, which causes the colors to split into their separate parts to be seen by the eye.
Ah, just that I put a pear in the green-smelling liquid, and it became a glowing green, and Amaranth put soap in one of the mugs and it turned into... well, soap.
[ still reeling a bit from having "electromagnetic radiation," light having "sizes," and "organelle(s) inside a cell" (...like a prison cell??) thrown at her in rapid succession ]
You head up the stairs, but you find that a fantastical laser show depicting a dog playing fetch appears right before your very eyes forms a solid barrier that prevents you from going all the way up. Or you might just be about to have a seizure from the flashing lights and air horn noises, who knows.
At any rate, it is just light so you might be able to walk through it if you really want to.

It... truly does seem quite clever to me. And it's some kind of progress, too. I wonder if bits of pear would make all of them glow...?

Then, there should be ...
If it's making "light," then there should be other colors too, shouldn't there...? Here there is green, and this blue...

[ this is an area beyond her Lore score. ]
But at this rate, I would guess that other colors might be found in other rooms—perhaps upstairs.

Does that make sense?

...Well, I think I follow the part about rainbows, at least! I never would have guessed, but it makes sense, in a way.

Yes, that seems like the next step.
