[ The bar is unit-colored with light unit paraphernalia, although it's all just for show. Fortunately, comfort isn't part of the unit aesthetic this time—all seats are cushioned, whether the booth seats or the bar stools, comfy and lush. Idols can sit anywhere they like, it seems.
There's alcohol available, but everything else is locked behind the wall-cabinet. . . the recipe book is also available to peruse at one's leisure.
Ah—the door opens, and a fuzzy sort of shade steps in. It looks like idols will be serving the Damned, today. . . ? ]

[It's part of this memory.]
[Specifically AFTER he tells Luz his name, that's still top secret.]
[Luz the human is staring at him in shock and there is a deep longing, like he's looking for something vital-]
[Except then he gets shot in the head. There is pain and then he sees the shock heading for Luz, not even thinking twice before protecting her and charging forward to fight Kikimora (another member of his coven. She yells about treason a few times).]
[He wants her to go down and STAY down, and he wants to keep Luz Safe, deflects blasts away from her, keeps Kikimora away from her, porting around at high speeds.]
[Until finally, Kikimora collapses entirely and there is movement at his back.]
[He looks behind him to see the hand dragon creature is flying away with Luz on his back. The palismen is his 'claws.']
[And he knows.]
[He knows he could catch up to her. He's fast enough. He knows she won't let the creature hurt him even.]
[He knows he could.]
[He knows he knows he SHOULD.]
[There is a fear of the consequences if he doesn't do what he should do.]
[But there is something just a little bit stronger. Barely, but it wins.]
[Maybe there was a better way. He wants there to be a better way.]
[And he lets her go.]
[Quite conflicted all the while.]

[This whole memory.]
[Rufous is chasing that same human, in the same pajamas, through the streets. He is quite irritated. Pissed off, really, and she is rightly scared even if she's trying to not be as rude as he is in this chase.]
[And then she's on a rooftop after launching herself with an ice glyph and there come the taunts that fuel his irritation with her.]
[A flicker of shame.]
[Until Luz asks if he's powerless without his staff, and the shame turns bright hot and intense.]
[He drowns it out with anger and he parlours up and hey, there's the pain as he slams under the edge of the roof before he drags his myself up.]
[He feels the heat of the first blast, dodging by chance, he's on his feet quickly, tracking the second, doesn't need to move, he knows, he just has to dodge the third and he does.]
[Luz is back to freaked out and now Rufous is just being an asshole as he calls out how she won't seriously hurt him or run and she's stuck in this situation with him whether she likes it or not.]

@LAVA: So it is hard for me to say whether the things i have "felt" are grief or isolation or fragility,
@LAVA: but definitionally they seem similar.

@LAVA: But i know i do not like losing things i am protecting.

@LAVA: Learning that i can break and that there is not anything i can do about it is the worst thing i have experienced.

@LAVA: and all i could think about was how i could not save anyone else from the same fate if i could not even save myself.
@LAVA: So i suppose this fits the definition of "shame", as well.
