You enter a room split in two by a huge, jagged Chasm, spanned by the (very) rickety old remains of what (probably) used to be a wooden bridge. Do you have a head for heights and a daring heart? Because you might need both, if you're going to get across this.

Something chitters softly in the darkness way, way up above.

There's one door to the West side, and one to the East.

Anyone attempting to cross needs to roll 1D10.

✑ If 1-3: You fall, down, down, down into the darkness ...

✑ If 4-7: chitter chitter chitter chitter a HUGE VAMPIRE BAT the size of a dog swoops down at you, its gaping, salivating maw held wide!

✑ If 8-10: You make it safe and sound to the other side.

[ Because she has been given Orders not to just do things, she will wait at the edge of the bridge rather than just run onto it and start making it swing on purpose for funsies. ]

What should we do?

[ Honestly this time. She's less certain. But she made herself the point of authority here so time to live up to that expectation. ]

I don't think we'll fall, but... I'm not sure how safe it is regardless.

I don't mind trying to cross it if you say it's okay. I'll be fine. [ her instinct tells her she's unkillable, so it's whatever! No fear! ]

[ she's going to take the other girl by the hand and lead them out onto the bridge.

roll of 7 means that as they go she's getting attacked by A BAT

but she's going to try to defend herself against its attacks with this candle she's still got handy. ]

[ This one rolled an 8 so she could have made it, but no way would she leave her new friend and boss lady to deal with the bat alone! Also there's only room for one vampire in these parts. ]

[ Leaping at the bat then, sticking her arm out to try and wedge it in the bat's mouth while she tears at one of its wings, trying to rip the thin leathery wing skin away from the bony fingers and disable it -- she has experience with flying bat monsters, after all. ]
