"I guess if anyone would know it's probably Bonnie?" he says, but like, intensely unsure?? "Honestly, I'm not even sure what she does, but she's bossy enough to act like she knows stuff, anyway. Wouldn't hurt to check."

[taking out the bphone and hitting vidchat]

Yo. You there, Bonnie?

That pink face blips into existence on the screen again.

"Okay, one, who told you to call me Bonnie? And two, what is it, don't tell me you still need more help?"

One, it was Hurricane, blame him. And two...

[shows her one of the vials]

Do you know what this is?

She leans in closer to the screen, squinting. "Hmm. Looks like vampire junk."

It is! I got two of these from vampires I killed.

Is there something I should be doing with these or whatever?

"I mean... no idea, honestly. Never seen it before.

But probably don't drink it."

What! And here I was thinking of doing that the second I end this call!

Seriously though, that'd just turn me into a vampire, right. Or kill me.

Bubblegum shrugs. "It might! I dunno. Lotsa mystery junk in this place I'm only just starting to understand."

Yeah, well. I'm not checking to find out. But I'll keep them on hand in case they come in useful later.

"Best to keep important stuff!" she says, cheerfully, then pauses-- checks something to the side-- and comes back into frame.

"Actually, good timing, since you're here! You've been using magic, haven't you?"

Yup! Somehow I've got spells that I definitely don't normally have.

She nods, rubbing her chin. "Yes, I see... that won't do.

Well. Consider yourself in debt, then-- did you pay a price, yet?"

Huh? There's a price? No way would I have used that shit if I knew it wasn't free!

"There's always a price," Bubblegum says, shrugging. "So-- we can do this a couple of ways.

Body, mind, or soul?"

Hurricane grimaces. "Dude, I thought you knew."

...Can I get any extra details on what those options will do?

"You give something in exchange for power. And you've already obtained power, so there's no going back.

If you don't pick one, I can always do it for you."

Fine, fine. Let's say soul, then.

Hurricane makes a face, but says nothing.

Bubblegum seems surprised, then shrugs, saying, "Aaaalrighty, whatever you want!" Before she hangs up and the screen goes dead.

And there's a long moment, where nothing seems to happen at all.

And then it feels like something reaches inside you and crushes your emotions, squeezes whatever feelings you had for Requiem until it's nothing more than a speck in that sea of hatred.

And while you recognize that something has changed, well. For all you care you may as well have never known her at all.

[blinks, taking a moment to try and figure out what changed, but then shrugs and glances back to Hurricane]

Well, I should go find that True Heart or whatever. Since that's what I'm supposed to be here for.

"I mean-- sure, but..." he pauses. "What price did you pay?"

I mean, I picked soul, and it seems like something happened? But I can't really tell what it was.

He looks worried, but... shrugs a little. "Alright... where do you want to check next, then? Those two are the only major vamps I really knew of, so far..."

I dunno. There was a house back there in the cave, but it's locked.
