Mori's heart

All at once a rainbow of bright lights feels as if it is bursting through you. It is an intense experience, but not an unpleasant one. As the colours burn through your skin, and lighting begins to spark through your veins, you feel stronger, you could take on the world right now.

Faintly in the distance, beyond the iridescent light show that overwhelms your vision, you can just about make out some silhouettes, but they’re too blurred, too indistinct and too far to tell anything about them. You can’t see them, but you know they’re welcoming you. You’re wanted here, you’re needed here, and the light is guiding you where you’re meant to go.

I'm saying you're allowed to have them. You're... keeping yourself far away up here alone. Like you're deliberately deciding you're bad.

What do you think you're for?

Snapping harshly, "I'm not for helping anyone move forward through anything, that's for sure."

I wasn't looking for help. You've given me that already. I just want to keep you company.

"But why? Why come hang out with the worst part of me?"

He looks down, grim. "You're probably not as cruel with yours though."

How do you define cruel?

"...Wanting to hurt yourself just to make other people feel bad?"

I don't think I'd exactly call that cruel...

He scoffs, "What else would you call that?"

... helplessness. Because there's probably a reason behind it?

He shifts uncomfortably.

"Is that what it is... But does having a reason behind it change that it's a cruel action?"

I think so.

Cruelty for no reason, just for the sake of it, isn't that what makes villains?

Standing up suddenly, his feet balanced precariously on the small ledge available to him on this side of the railing.

"Cruel actions are cruel actions no matter what reason you have. That's villainous, huh? That's what it is..."

[almost sucks in breath, watching him]

... no. That's not what I said.

He's still for the moment, looking down at the ground.

"You're making excuses, Duality."

["Duality"... he hasn't heard that from Mori in a while so it jars him a bit. he narrows his eyes, but his voice is quiet]

Yelling at you at Hunger Games, after what you went through. That was cruel. I wanted to make you feel bad for what you did, even if it was a for a moment. So it would make me villainous too, then.

"...No. That's a different feeling to what I am. You did that because you were scared for me."

"Cruel actions are cruel actions no matter what reason you have. That's villainous, huh?"

Now you're making excuses.

"Oh, is that how it is? You're turning my words against me like this, with that kind of weak comparison? Fine, you can be villainous too if you want."

At least then you're not alone in it.

Scoffs, "That's not a good reason to drag yourself down."

Of course it is.
