The first one he tries to pick up --the one that looks like the better weapon-- is too heavy. But the second one is a perfect fit, and Fox can lift it up with ease!]
fox hefts it to feel its weight, and, seeming pleased, will uh. add it to his inventory?]
I shall return this later.
[... he says, to no one in particular]
| Weapon: Katana |
But look! There's a scabbard that seems to fit that katana over there! You'll still have to carry it in your hand, but you won't risk getting hurt in the process. Small victories!]
are there any other drawings in the pile, perhaps some by fox himself?]
| Item: Scabbard |
Also, if Fox has ever given Sol a painting or drawing as a gift, it should be here!... Has he?]
is this room a dead end, btw? are there paths that lead anywhere else besides the exit?]
Also this room is not a dead end, there are three other tunnels connected to it-- if you look at the room from where the tunnel you came from, there's one behind the dragon, one to the left, and one to the right.]
"Ahh, it's been so long since the last time I had roasted Ium..."
"Too long! I'm hungry!"
"Hah. I'm the same. But-- that ends tonight."
[The three owners of the voices are getting closer. You can see the faint glow of a lantern starting to illuminate the tunnel... What do you do?]
fox will look around the wide area for a place to crouch behind--one of those crystal clusters, perhaps?]
You can hide behind that, yes! And soon you'll see... monsters that ARE NOT TROLLS. There's three of them, and one is much bigger than the others. Their hunched frames are stout and stocky, with abnormally long arms and gleaming claws. If you know goblins-- these are goblins.]
“...But by the time we get there, there’ll be nothing left.”
“You can keep the tree carver for yourselves. I'll take my chances at the village.”
"Whoa, thank you boss."
[They seem to be headed in the direction Fox first came from, and don't notice him at all.]
(Goblins don't have to roll not to slip and fall on the ice, it's one of their few perks.)]
They are getting closer fast. They seem to be in a hurry...!]
| Fight System
|
| Enemy: Goblin |
[You have the chance for a first strike!]
| Being in a clearly disadvantageous position, the goblin realizes that its best bet is a partial dodge! It reaches back for its dagger, and that movement actually helps-- its luck is at an all-time high, apparently. Fox's katana grazes the goblin's shoulder, and the goblin uses this chance to push itself forward with all its might and slash at Fox's arm. It does little more than graze it, but it does draw blood. Even the goblin looks surprised that this worked... Your life goes down by 100 points. |
but hopefully it gives fox an opening to do a quick retaliating slash? yes?]
| Fox's retaliating attack catches the goblin right when it's bending forward to get up-- and now, Fox does slash its neck with ease. It's a critical hit! I'm sorry about your clothes and the floor. Still, this is not the real world. The goblin's life may be decreasing quickly, but it is still alive, and hasn't given up!... Not that it can do much at this point. It brings one hand up to its throat, waving its dagger at Fox with a snarl as if to keep him away. |
[going for a jab right at the neck where the previous wound was, aiming to either sever the head cleanly or for the blade to go through]
| The goblin's head is severed so cleanly and swiftly that it stays exactly where it was for a second, and then gross things happen and it slides to the side. Both the body and the head fall down, making a mess on ice even as they dissolve into particles of light. Your clothes are still bloodied but this is definitely your win! |
[No congratulatory messages appear. If you want to check your stats, you'll have to do it yourself!]
