HEART GAME: REQUIEM (run 2)

You awaken in the ☆ZRAEL dorm common room. It’s dark. Darker than usual, and the reason why is immediately apparent: the lamps are all extinguished, the stars have disappeared, and the moon has shifted to new. The ocean below the glass panes of the floor is silent and still. Everything feels cold and unmoving, not unlike a painting.

"... s'just the Mushroom War ruins," Nemesis says softly, looking around.

You find:

-Wooden stake: advantage against vampires 1x per fight. 1d6 dmg
-Old rubber chicken: it makes an awful noise.
-Used rollerblades: They kinda smell, but hey, you’re faster now. +2 AC
-Rifle: A rifle with two bullets. Roll INT to fire. 1d8 dmg
-Trashcan Lid: well… you can PROBABLY use this as a shield? +4 AC
-Health Potion: gives 10hp
-A Hecking Bazooka: Holy shit, it’s a bazooka. Single use, 1d12 damage. Causes 1d3 damage to companions in the area.
-The Abadeer Family Axe: Dang that’s a SICK BASS. 1d8 dmg.

[Hands the rifle straight to Nem. After a pause, the bazooka, too.]

Have at em, dude. I'm not gonna be any good with em.

[He pockets the other stake and potion, then lifts the axe, careful.]

...this thing's Req's, isn't it? What's it doing way out here?

NnnnnOPE, she recoils from the gun. "Uh-- no, I'm. I'm good. I've got a sword."

But she will skirt around to the side the gun isn't, peering at the axe. "-- yeah. That's my bass... dunno why it's here and not at home, though."

[Shrugs, and puts the gun and the bazooka back down, then - offers her the bass, instead.]

Well, reunited at last, right?

Could shield it up, too, and go full on fantasy style knight.

[Picks up the trashcan lid, experimental.]

Nemesis takes it-- awkwardly, at first-- and plucks at the strings a little until she's managed a tune. And then she smiles, softly, and slings it over her back. "... thanks. I'm good without the shield, though, you should keep it."

You ever seen me fight, dude? Kinda not my style.

...I'll take the skates if you don't want em, though.

"Sure, you can take whatever," she says. "I've got armor and stuff."

Oh - yeah. True. Gimme half a sec, then.

[Sits down and puts the skates on, then stands himself up again.]

Kay. All set.

[Now. What else is around here? There anywhere to go from here? Any signs of people?]

Once you're all set up, you can kind of hear footsteps not far off...

[Huh. Heading that way, then.]

As you wander deeper between the crumbling buildings you almost walk face-first into... a familiar face.

Hurricane startles. “Woah! Uh-- hey! Unexpected."

...dude. Tell me about it.

You look just like me.

"'Course I do? I'm the part of her that looks like you," he says. Then pauses, because he only just noticed Nemesis, and steps over to her so they can clasp hands in greeting, smiling. "Find your thing?"

"Nah," she responds, shrugging. "Figured helping Hurricane's more important, anyway..."

You guys don't gotta babysit me if you don't wanna. I'm just gonna wander around trying to find someone. If you got stuff to do, I'm cool on my own.

"Not really?" Nemesis says.

And Hurricane chimes in, after a moment, "... I mean, you can just say if you'd rather go it alone."

Nah. 'S not that. I just don't wanna, like - interrupt?

You guys got your own thing going on, right? Being Req, or whatever. Kinda weird if I yank you off task.

They look at each other, then at you, and Nemesis shrugs. "I mean, not like it's that important on my end."

"Besides," Hurricane says after a moment, "you didn't even give me a chance to say what I'm doing. Kinda wanted your guys help cleaning up those vampires while you're here."

What vampires?

"There's a few baddies around here," Hurricane says. "I was mostly just scoping 'em out-- see what I could do..."

Guess we're backup, huh?

Well, lead the way, dude. Let's see what they got.

"You're prolly stronger than me," he says, as he starts to walk. "I'm more of a healer. It's just me out here though cuz Nem's scared of 'em."

"--Dude," she says, scowling.

[Glances toward Nem, curious.]

They that bad?

She seems kind of embarrassed, grimacing and looking away. "Nothing I can't handle," she says. "They're just... y'know. Vampires."

So?

She pauses. "... I mean. They eat humans."
