Castle Game: Heart Soldier Senshi

[Suddenly, you hear the wailing of a horn. Outside, tension is turning to panic. You can't see anything, but you can hear people gathering up their things, sobbing in fear or speaking in harsh whispers. A lone voice calls from the distance:

The enemy approaches!

Upon the map, an unfamiliar geography appears -- several small nations, clustered together. Outside of them, an endless sea of enemy forces, identified only by a symbol of a cracked skull. Each of the small nations is marked with a flag in one unit's colour, and a tiny model of a castle.

You are at war. How will you protect your people and yourself?

... The odds that we're going to die are high, Eclipse. No one is helping Pep!Pep! enough to save them since they're giving away all of theirs. ... Wouldn't it be better if we all escaped the very worst possible outcome...?

Don't tell me pep pep has been giving away what they have without knowing they're going to suffer consequences for it. They can't control people stealing from them but they can control how much they're giving. If they were aiming to survive they wouldn't be giving it all away.

I'd rather fucking steal, and I don't care if we give one or two, but if we give it all away then we're not even fucking trying any more! How the hell am I supposed to trust any of you when I'm right here and all of you don't even try!

Just because they're playing to protect their friends and not themselves doesn't mean we should consign them to the worst possible punishment when there's something we could do about it.

This isn't about whether or not we should never help others, this is about us risking our lives to save people who are trying to lose. If they were thinking about playing to even survive, they wouldn't be at 0 two rounds in a row. They made their choice and -- I don't believe it's because of some shit like them 'giving up' or whatever.

If we don't want to steal, whatever, but we are not sending all our damned bundles to them when we're not looking so great ourselves. One or two, I don't care, just not all of it!

No, they're not giving up. They've just chosen to give their materials away to help others - I'm sure of it.

And we don't have to give away everything! I want us to live too, I just - I can't do nothing. Even if they're doing this on purpose.

Pep!Pep! could control how they've been behaving, yes, but--even so, people have been stealing at least one, if not more, from them every time. And we don't know what their mind-set is. They may have given up, thinking they'll die with the worst consequences for sure, so why struggle? Maybe they're fine accepting that, but... that doesn't mean we have to go along with it.

I'm willing to accept Prim's compromise, but--I don't appreciate you accusing us of not even trying when we opted not to send anything and retain all of our property in the first round. We agreed to do what we can to preserve ourselves within a reasonable limit--not to play so hard as to not be able to look at ourselves in the mirror afterward.

I just...I think it wouldn't really make them feel all that great if we helped them at our own expense and we ended up dying for it. But maybe that's my own selfishness.

[ She's been in Eclipse's shoes, so. She understands. And she reaches out to touch his shoulder, gently, so he understands... she might be a bit upset right now, but she understands where he's coming from, and love is not over. ]

No, you're probably right that they wouldn't like it if we died either. Personally, i don't really want to die either, but--it seems we estimated this game incorrectly. Hopefully, we'll both be able to survive... I think that's all any of us want.

I would like us all to not die. [ As in, both them and pep. ] I just...at least, I want to believe that they're making this choice not because they feel defeated or they have 'given up', but because they've decided that's how they want to do this.

I don't like it, but... [ He thinks back to the conversations he's had with Cobalt, before. ] I guess there's no way to do this that isn't really just us being selfish.

... Later, when things aren't so tense, we should discuss this. What to do when it seems like another unit is trying to throw a game.

[ Because on the one hand--yes. She would obviously also like to see everyone survive. And she would like King to not be angry with them for not saving Yugi--from himself, even.

... But having seen Eclipse lose his composure like this, and his point--that Pep!Pep! might want to lose--she wonders if this is really the best choice to be making. ]
