Pokemon: The Outskirts of Town

On the outskirts of town you'll find large plots of land, each with a sign with your unit in front. They look like they'd be perfect for cultivating gardens--perhaps from those fruit trees you saw before. There's even space enough that you can build your unit's Pokemon a shelter to live in. There's also a scenic outdoor onsen with tiered pools carved out of the sides of another hill perfect for enjoying a relaxing soak after a hard day spent playing and working.

[ he brings goomy to the outdoor onsen as soon as the pokedex lets him know that it'll die if it dehydrates. w- wtf. ]

[ sits at the edge of one of the pools with goomy on his lap gently splashing her with water. ]

[It's okay, hers is a Honedge and the pokedex says it'll suck out your life-force and murder you if you grab its hilt, so...]

Yo, Yugi! Who've you got there?

[ w- wtf. that is absolutely terrifying. ]

[ all goomy does is die if she dries out. ]

Coyote! H-oly shit. Is that your pokemon? [ goomy tilts its head and looks over the two of them. ] Oh, ah, this is Goomy. [ goomy trills at her introduction. ]

Yeah, it's "Honedge"!

. . .Ah, you think I'm supposed to name him, or something?



[Honedge is. Not terribly reactive. . . to be fair it's a sword though.]

Honedge. It even has a cool name! And, ah, yeah, I think so?

[ he looks to goomy. ] I kind of like Goomy though, and she doesn't seem to mind... though I guess she deserves a name. [ he's shit at this. ]

[Heading on in to the onsen, Rufflet tucked under his arm and scritching idly at its cheek feathers.]

Man, gimme this town over the one in that other game any day.

Then. . . "Jumyou". How's that?

[She addresses both, but the sword. Still doesn't react. It's a sword and all.]

Does that mean something?

[ he's going to move closer to get a better look at the sword. goomy seems a bit nervous, so she smushes herself up against the side of his head. ] G- Goomy, please. [ no more slime!!! ]

[ at some point this happened. ~*~magic~*~. ]

Right. It's so much nicer. And the stuff's all real.

[ on reach the onsen she realizes... ] I don't have a suit. [ slaps a hand to her head. gabite doesn't care and immediately dives in. shark torpedo in his natural habitat or something! ]

[Just watching that thing wreak havoc on Yugi's hair and clothes.]

Eh. . . y-yeah, "lifespan". If his deal's gobbling up life force. . .

[ if she thought he had ridiculous hair before, then he's got to look absolutely crazy now. he sighs and gently lifts goomy up and sets her down on the ground. ]

I wonder what the story behind that is. Like, why he can do it. I wonder if anybody's ever touched the hilt... [ and lived. ]

[ goomy is sad on the ground. ]

[Eyesquint at Jumyou, which. Doesn't react because SWORD.]

[ he lifts his hands up and takes a step back. ]

N- No thanks. [ he's had enough trauma. ]

[ goomy has also spontaneously evolved into sliggoo. speaking of terrifying pokemon stuff... liggoo excretes and coats its body with a sticky mucous that can dissolve anything. Because it lacks teeth, it sprays this liquid onto prey and slurps them up once they are dissolved. Its eyes have devolved, causing it to go blind. This makes it difficult for it to tell allies from prey and it will sometimes attempt to melt its companions. Its four horns act as a radar system and are used to detect sounds and smells. ]

Could just go in your clothes? Or take em off, whichever.

[Leaning way over to peer in the onsen, trying to see how deep it is.]

I guess that's true too. It's not like I won't dry off. [ ... ] Fuck it. [ going in, clothes on! ]

W-what the hell? What just happened? It's like a completely different critter!

I... have no idea.

[ sliggoo baps its head on yugi's leg, though it seems glad to know he's nearby, since it can no longer see. it's antennae twitch, since it's trying to get a feel for the rest of its surroundings. ]

It... grew???
