3 WAY PRISONER'S DILEMMA: Heart Soldier Senshi

[ The room you wake up in is barren. The floor, walls, and ceiling are all metal, and the only furnishings are a large television-sized touchscreen monitor and a massive pane of glass cutting through the room, separating Wire from the rest of the unit. You can beat against the glass as much as you like, but it won't break. Both the touchscreen monitor and the elevator doors are on the same side of the room as everyone but the hostage.

Once Mukuro finishes his intro spiel, the monitor display switches to a catalogue of pictures of flowers, each with their name, associated meaning, and a checkbox underneath them: ]

[What the FUCK is this!!! Knocking them out like that, and waking up to find Nathan imprisoned and some bullshit prisoners dilemma??

Mori immediately jumps up and tries to activate his Heart Weapon, a pair of gauntlets, and starts punching the glass. He doesn't know if it'll summon in a game like this, but even if it won't, he has to at least try first.]

[ HONESTLY if Mori hadn't immediately started beating on the glass, she probably would have been the one trying. But. Well. If he's going to be the one freaking out, then she's going to have to be the voice of reason. ]

Mori! Stop, Mori!

[He does stop after four or five punches, leaving his fist against the wall. Mori grits his teeth and tries to calm down, but he's so very angry. He's terrified. He doesn't know what to do.]

I know. I knew it wouldn't work, but, there has to be something.

I know.

[ she places her hand on his shoulder. ]

The only way we'll be able to get him out is to go along with this insanity.

[ which is. not great. but. ]

We can't compete against these creatures with powers that they've given to us.

[He still doesn't look at her, he can't, but he tries to focus on Hiryuu's hand on his arm and ground himself in her calm.]

Then how? A game like this... What the hell does that guy mean, he'll never be the same? What is he going to do?

It's not so difficult to parse. They took our memories and have thus already proven they have the ability to alter us against our will. Furthermore, they've demonstrated complete control over the physical appearance of this place time and again.

There's no specific clue as to the intention here, but it's clear they mean to make some further "change," either cosmetic or external, to Nathan if we fail to win this rigged game of theirs.

[He knows that, he KNOWS, a threat like this means something bad and their captors have perfectly demonstated their power to play with them as they like. Mori thinks of their memories, of all the abilities they can gain and the dangers they pose, of all the impossible things these people have done to their team.

He thinks of everyone walking home, covered in blood, Hiryuu too terrified to enter the room and Nathan sitting there motionless.

It's no good. He can't calm down, he can't stop trembling, and the thought that it's going to happen again right in front of him makes tears prick at the corner of his eyes.]

W-We can't, let that happen.

[ She can imagine what he's thinking about. This is his first time present for these games, after all: he's only been there for the aftermath before. Of course he'd be terrified. She's going to bring him in for a hug, for all the good it will do. ]

We're going to do our very best, Mori.

Oh, he's making her worry.

Mori shudders, a sob breaking through as he wraps his arms around Hiryuu tight, burying his face in her hair. He doesn't want to cry, he feels pathetic for crying, but the tears won't stop.]

What the fuck...

[Nathan's disoriented for a moment, he... he honestly hadn't expected to wake up separated from his team. But the banging of Mori's weaponized fists against the glass shakes him from his daze.

He transforms too, and tries punching at the glass - but it barely even seems to shake.]

[Well fuck this!!!!]

It won't budge - Nathan-san, can you still hear us through this?

[Welp! Breathing heavily, Nathan de-transforms and tries to take stock of the room.]

Yeah... yeah. Loud and clear.

We're going to get you out of here.

[Mori says it with confidence, but it's hollow. He's terrified, and clinging to fury in the wake of that to stop himself from falling apart any worse. But his hands still won't stop shaking.]

[On Nathan's part, his voice was controlled calm.]

Don't worry about me. You've got to figure out what t'do with those flowers.

Of course we're going to worry about you! You're the one who'll - if we get this wrong, you'll... There's no telling what they'll do.

[He hasn't been here for it before. Every other game, where they've gotten hurt, where they've been in danger, he hasn't been there. Mori had felt powerless when they'd all walked in the door covered in blood, he'd wished he'd been there to be able to do something, but now he is and he's still powerless. What can he do to help? How can he save Nathan?]

I can handle it. Whatever happens, I promise.

Use that brain've yours. And remember t'breathe, Mori.

[How can he breathe when all he can think about is Nathan after the last bad game sitting there, motionless, soaked in his own blood and lashing out at anyone who came close. Handle it? He shouldn't have to, why can't Mori protect him from that? Tears start to well at the corner of his eyes.]

If we can't get you out, then what should we do? What do we do, Nathan-san?

We could try, but, that won't get Nathan-san out. If we can't break through it, there must be a way to get it open.

[Welp, Nathan's being the voice of reason here. After a minute, reluctantly:]

...I think we gotta just. Play their game.

[Unfortunately this is Mori's first time at the trauma plate and he is not coping well, struggling to maintain any facade of calm.]

If we do that - even if we trust, Nathan-san will be hurt... everyone else will be hurt... who are the other teams hostages, how can we... we have to use the flowers to talk to them but how...

For this round, Nathan just wants to try and talk to everyone. Let em know who we are.

After we see what we get back... we'll figure it out then.

[He just told Mori not to protect him at the cost of others, so they have to sit here and watch him get hurt?!

What if one of the teams they get sees their flowers and decides to take advantage of the team they know will play lightly? If they trust and are betrayed Nathan will get the worst kind of damage, and Mori can't help the tears when he thinks of that.

They're well liked, aren't they? Everyone came together at the last game, they tried, everyone was willing to work together, he prays they still are. Please, please, don't let Nathan-san get hurt.]
