idolpro | Yvette's super fun spy simulator: Session I

Objective: Convince Yvette to leave the Ideal World.
The following is ICly known:

Unit abilities are off :)
Yvette is actively trying to sabotage players
One tactic is making interaction "pay for play," using memories, specifically those of Yvette. (max 5)
After 5 memories have been exhausted, false memories will be implanted
Planted memories will not be accepted as Payment.
Alternate Payment is negotiable, but the player will lose whatever they give her
Use of force is highly inadvisable, and the condition for success is extremely low. Failure will result in a false memory.
Your smartphone works, and can be used to document inconsistencies in the Ideal World.

tl;dr The more evidence you collect, the more convincing you are; memories can be used to unlock certain things, but if they run low, you get mindfucked (probably).
All things lost or received during the game will be reversed upon waking or within one IC day, at player’s discretion. The character does not know this ICly.

Flat | Top-Level Comments Only

You can learn fun and exciting things like Lock picking and pickpocketing! Self-defense! Negotiation! Otherwise, the rest of the books are dry, technical stuff.

"These are useful topics that will be covered in other sections of your assessment, of course."

Assessment?

Her eyes narrow in well-meaning concern. Young man, what did you get yourself into?

"The skill assessment mentioned at the orientation. Didn't you read the introduction?"

. . . Remind me again.

Her voice sounds automatically recorded as she repeats the introduction verbatim: "Congratulations! You’ve been selected to participate in an assessment of your talent in the ~illustrious and exciting field of espionage~
While this line of work requires a lot of sacrifice, it is our hope that you are not deterred by the challenge.

After all, giving up the familiar does not always constitute a loss, and there is a wealth of knowledge at your disposal. So learn as much as you can!"

One gets the impression that the expectation is that you go about collecting skills, though it doesn't coincide with the instructions on your phone to convince Yvette to leave this place.

I'm not interested in doing espionage.

"Oh, what a shame. You have so much potential..."

Yeah, yeah.

[ glancing up to the staircase ]

What's up there?

"More books, perhaps? I haven't had the opportunity to look."

That's no good. Isn't this the library you work in?

"Perhaps when I'm off duty. You're free to investigate if you like."

When's that gonna be?

"That's to be determined by management..."

[[Furi: Like never. ]]

If you'd like to investigate the staircase you're free to, there's also the book drop. The conversation with Libraryvette is clearly going to go nowhere.

In the bookdrop is a notebook. On the first page is just one line, neatly written by Yvette:

Why don't you want to remember?

Your vision fades out for a full minute, but it returns as if nothing was wrong.

drops the book back into the bookdrop, pressing a hand to his face and leaning forward against the wall ]

Libraryvette doesn't react, but your vision returns to normal after this incident.

Even before you get close to the staircase, the odor of wet paint hits your nose. On closer inspection, this whole section was quickly slapped onto a backdrop.

There isn't any paint on the floor, thankfully.

Unlike the books at the front desk, every book on every shelf is filled with:

It is impossible to glean any information from this.

There's nothing beyond the windows that isn't painted. There's only enough chairs to sell the perception of a larger room, but there's nothing hiding in, under, or around them.

There are no people, or additional decor.

You're free to move on to the combat practicum, social skills, break area, or practice area.
