princess maker - pep!pep!
[ When you insert the key and open the door, you'll find inside the room looks small, cramped, just one living space without any doors—you can hear noises of the bustling life outside, as well as other people beyond the thin walls. the space bends on the walls, and a basket sits on the table in the center of this studio room with a blanket folded into it.
Inside, a baby stirs restlessly - you hope she goes back to sleep soon, and you play your flute in hopes of lulling her back to sleep. Unfortunately, a sharp knock sounds from the ceiling - the tenants upstairs don't like what you're doing. You take a more drastic measure, singing softly to your baby as you rock the basket back and forth and hope the tenants don't complain again. ]
-
[ Slowly, the scene changes, fading in and out with various silent scenes—the baby cries, and in turn, the upstairs tenants knock at your ceiling again; she finds her way to your flute, tooting happily though no noise comes out; a little toddler, she becomes attached to a stray cat; you decline her request, and she storms out to run away for a little while as you regret; she returns, covered in cat hair and ignores everything you say; then the wall becomes opaque. ]
[ In the corner of the room, a young girl the age of 10 crouches, looking away from you. she holds a cat in her arms, petting the creature constantly.
You wish you could have done better for your baby girl. But, this is what you love to do and maybe you'll get a gig that pays well enough that you two can move out of this shithole - hopefully. You tried your best to rear her, but with how infrequent you're in the house, working odd jobs in the day and performing at the pub at night, you're not sure anymore. You know she is capable of anything if she puts her mind to it - even becoming a princess - but you also know it's not easy to become a princess, and she's horribly equipped for any of that. Then again, if anything your little tyke is tough, and if anyone could be a rags-to-riches princess, it would be her. Thankfully, you've emergency savings - for her schooling, of course. You have a lot of regrets, but maybe it's not too late. ]

However, she's still considered a Plague Bearer. Your teachers don't want to teach a Plague Bearer - more than that, they urge you to send her to the Capital. She's ill, after all - you need to get her medication if you're going to take care of her, and if not, you need to send her to the Capital so she can get treatment.

FREE WEEK 1
Or perhaps, you could do something else with her? Something fun, maybe? It's basically a vacation, after all. Well -- not a vacation for you, but your vocation means you could do some travelling and get some business drummed up.
This time, you've decided to go to the Spring Festival fair. Your daughter will be with you the whole time, so what do you plan to do? You have some money, but. . . well. . .
Well, anyway, let's do something fun!
-
Basically: it's a mini-mingle. You can go to the fair and have some fun or you can do something else! You can submit in a comment OR you can thread, either way is fine. You may affect your daughter's stats here, but not her temperament or moral compass. You have until the end of the game to finish Free Weeks, which is when they'll be tallied up to the total of your princess's stat totals. This is entirely optional, and serves as a method for people who can't play during regular gamerunner hours to be able to do something fun while contributing to the game, although everyone is welcome.

Re: FREE WEEK 1
We think it's important that Shira doesn't depend too heavily on Cloud Nine for making friends, so we've challenged her to try to have a friendly encounter without using it. This is a very low-risk challenge with no punishment for failure; nobody knows us or our background here, so she has a clean slate to work with. Best case scenario is that she makes a friend. Worst case is that we go home and she never has to see any of these people again and it doesn't matter. But this is a good opportunity to practice her manners, listen to people, and practice being kind. However, this isn't meant to be a stressful activity, so if she hates it she can stop if she wants.
While we're out and about, we're going to keep an eye out for anything that might support or contradict the creation myth and plague stuff. Skepticism is healthy and Shira needs a chance to look at evidence and ask questions to help inform her worldview.

The next day, you bear witness as Emi's parents declare that their daughter does not have the Plague and that your daughter is trying to infect her - and this is why they moved, because that accursed town is full to the brim with poverty and Plague. You bear witness to Shira being told never to see Emi again, and Emi struggling - before having no choice but to turn away, unable to meet Shira in the eye as she goes back inside.
The father threatens to call the military if you stay around. Shira doesn't need you to help her go back home; she turns to go as soon as she's able.
What . . . do you do?

FREE WEEK 2
Plus, there's some talk in town about how there's been some thunderclouds - it's out of season for them, so what is going on . . . ? Well, it doesn't seem like it would be terribly devastating, but you know what is devastating?
It's the fact that in her lashing out, Shira's lost most of her clothes. While she's managed to shrink down her appendages, not everything disappears - her tail is still present though smaller, wings still present though more cosmetic than anything else. Plus, she's taller now - at least a good few inches. This is probably the least hide-able of all of her changes, aside from the little nubs of horns that pop out from her hair.
Well . . . now is a good a time as any to get new clothes for her, right? But you're still bards . . . What are you going to do for money? What will you do this week?

For your last week together with her, what will you do . . . ?

I love you.
