[ When you awaken -- to some, it may be a familiar sight. It’s the inside of Baritones’ dorm; the low-lit jazz club, the table with the bar stools, the posters on the walls … The main, notable exception to this is there seems to be a bit of a gardening issue.
A lot of one, actually. There’s a sense of decay throughout the whole place; it’s covered in dust, the posters creeping of the walls, and there’s a stench of rotty earthiness. It’s similar to what one might smell just before rain, but there’s a sickly-sweetness to it that’s foul to breathe in. There’s cracks in the floors, in the walls, too -- and through the cracks, greenery is sprouting. Specifically, wild oats are coming out of the woodwork, quite literally, and seem to be overtaking the entire dorm itself.
You’re also incredibly, overwhelmingly hungry. Utterly ravenous. And it’s not the urge for just any food, but something raw, something meaty. The oats don’t look atll too appealing, nor do the musty drinks lining the bar shelves. You must eat. You must devour.
From here, you can go a few directions. The balcony, training room, reception area, and onsen, and movie theater are barred up. However -- there’s still the kitchen, the wilderness bar, and the kidnapping tower. They’re not labelled, though, so if you’re not familiar with Baritones dorms .. well, good luck!!
There’s also a hallway that leads to rooms -- though if one steps through it to count, there’s more rooms than there are current members of Baritones. Most of them are boarded shut with planks and nails, however, and about the same level of decay as the rest of the dorms; as if they haven’t been opened in months.
One of the doors is especially boarded, from ground to the top of the door sill, with multiple layers of wood and chain. You’ll need something pretty heavy duty to break through those. The doors themselves look uniform otherwise, but underneath one of them even more of those wild oats are leaking from the seams, as if it’s full to bursting.
You can explore the dorms more, or you can poke around the main room. Where to go! ]
[Huh. Well this is different. He's been to Baritones at least once before, but it just looks off now. He also feels off himself. Hungry, like his stomach is hollow, though not to the point of painful. He probably shouldn't touch anything in the kitchen though. That's a sure fire way to set everything on fire. No one should ever let him near a kitchen, honestly.]
Hello?
[He looks around, heading in the direction of the Wilderness Bar]
[ The smell and seeing Baritones' dorms in this state alone already would be pretty bad, but the hunger doesn't help. He tries not to focus on it too much - push it down the same way he does with his murderous urges and focus on the task at hand.
Success is debatable. Since are aren't labeled, he'll first go to check on the dorm - can he tell who the EXTRA BOARDED one is supposed to be and if it's not Emet's in what state does his door appear to be in ]
[Wow??? He sure did not enjoy that. Once he comes to, he presses a hand to his chest where the sword had pierced him, more than a little panicked and breathing heavily.]
What the hell-?!
[Does he try going back to that room again? It's honestly tempting because now he's really mad at that woman and whoever stabbed him. He's hungry, though. He deliberates for a moment before going to the deciding that he wants to go back to the Wilderness Bar. Not only does he want to give her a peace of his mind but also he wants to know who Somnus is. He is not getting stabbed again, damn it.]
[Okay so he’s learned his lesson this time. No wilderness bar. He takes a shaky breath, trying to collect himself before deciding to go to the Kitchen to deal with his hunger.]
[ In the cruellest twist of fate in the world, there’s no actual bar there! In fact, it’s actually something a bit more picturesque. A wide open field of flowers spreads itself before you. It’s not the overwhelmingness of the wild oats that had been creeping through the doors, too. Instead as far as the eye can see, Star of Bethlehem flowers are growing tall and healthy. If you look behind yourself, the door you used to get in has disappeared.
There’s also a woman sitting on her knees in the field of flowers, hands clenched together as if in prayer. For anyone familiar with Glacies in Imeeji -- there’s an uncanny resemblance there!
When she hears you “enter” she turns, and smiles at you. ]
Come. It’s been some time since last we spoke, hasn’t it?
[ When you open the door, wild oats spill out and create miniature flood in the hallway. If you don’t take a step back you’re likely to get tripped up by it. The growth was so intense it created a pressure on the door that burst forth when it was opened.
Inside… well, it’s worse than the rest of the dorms, unsurprisingly. There may have been a normal bedroom here, once, but the wild oats have grown through the floors, the walls, and even the furniture. The murphy bed is completely split in half, wild oats growing in the wood and the sheets. There’s a small table to the side of the bed, books on the floor, all of which are filled with the petals of the wild oat flowers. A chess set is scattered across the floor.
There does seem to be a concentration of the wild oats here, though.. There’s one very large stem growing out a (closed) closet), if you investigate. ]
((OOC note: the closet has themes of sexual assault! it's not essential to seeing true heart, or for any purification.))
[ he was somewhat expecting this so he manages to take a step back in time, but even that the volume is impressive.
He'll get in once that's taken care of, analyzing the room quickly by just glancing at everything that jumps to his attention. And of course since there's a stem growing out of the closet that's the first thing he goes to check.
((OOC can bullshit him in adult body with whatever magic/heart logic if that's necessary but if it's just memories and witnessing he can stay in this)) ]
[ The kitchen is busy, busy, busy! It doesn’t look like Baritones’ kitchen at all for those familiar. Instead it looks more like … a meat processing facility. With one employee, a stem of wild oats tucked behind one of his ears, who turns to smile brightly at you as you enter. Almost too brightly considering what he’s in the midst of. He has a bonesaw in the middle of chopping off one of his own hands. ]
Ah, I didn't hear you!
[ it looks like heart-Lucifel has been busy busy! The room is chilled, fridge-like in temperature, for a clear reason. Laid out over stainless steel tables and counters are neatly packed organs, limbs, and other … miscellaneous chunks of meat. They’re all labelled too, just in case they’re not identifiable by sight. On one of the walls there’s an industrial-sized freezer door, sealed tight at the moment. The tile on the ground is covered in blood, both fresh and new. Here, too, the wild oats are growing in excess. They seem to particularly like growing around Lucifel's feet. ]
Mm, if I know we were having visitors I would have cleaned up …
[ The heart-Lucifel seems almost sheepish, finishing up with the chop and neatly dumping that hand in a ziploc bag. ]

Re: KITCHEN (cw self-harm, but like, very utilitarian)
[Well... he's in the kitchen now. Is Luci still in the freezer, tho.]
Whoa.
[There's. So much meat. It's kind of gross. On a normal day he would be really grossed out by this but he's seriously so hungry. Can he just take what he wants?]
[ The freezer is (obviously) cold. There’s shelves and shelves of plastic bins, filled with those neatly-organized limbs organs from the “kitchen” area. The oats are here too, creeping in between the tiles and scattered amongst the shelves.
However … one of the walls is lined with a rack that has large, suspiciously-shaped bags hanging from it on meat hooks. It’s a rotating rack, like what one might see in a dry cleaner, the rest of it wrapping around the wall and out of sight. There’s little tags bags with writing on them, but without moving closer they’re not legible. ]
[ Bam! You're in a cell, in a dark dungeon. This is not very like the actual kidnapping tower in Baritones. Anyone who’s been to the House of Mirth would recognize the dungeon, but for those who haven’t …
It's dark down here, in the dungeon, and the wall sconces are unlit; the only light source is from the hallway. In the dim light, though, you can see a handful of barred cells against one stone wall with fixtures for manacles. There's a drain set into the floor, in the middle, around which the floor is stained a darker color and is… sticky? The air is cold, and stale.
Against the wall next to the door is a set of shelves and some hanging hooks, as well as two simple wooden chairs, one of which looks like it's seen better days. Someone's left a jacket on one of the hooks. The shelves contain mostly ordinary household tools—a pair of scissors, a hammer, some pliers, a coil of rope.
There's more tools here than in the House, however. Chain cutters, and a crowbar. The plants are here too -- it’s a mixture this time, both of the Star of Bethlehem and wild oat sprouts, crawling over the walls, winding around the bars of your cell like ivy. The door shuts behind you and you’re trapped in here.
A silhouette approaches the bars of the cell. It’s dimly lit, but as they approach you can see an elongated goat skull appearing from the darkness. The rest of their body is in dark robes. ]
Well well. What do we have here?
[ For anyone who may have seen a certain broadcast, it’s familiar. But the voice isn’t warped at all this time; it’s clearly Absinthe. ]
[ well he hasn't been in THAT house but he's seen memories in other hearts. Can he get the chain cutters and the crowbar because if he can he's gonna go for that immediately ]
I'm guessing I don't actually have to answer that question.
[Ah. Shit. He wasn't expecting to wind up in a cage. Does he at least still have his big kitchen knife with him? Not that it would do any good with the bars. It might help him against Ardyn, though.]
[ You enter, but it actually seems as if you’ve exited a building. You’re now in the plaza of a grand city in the middle of the night, with tall buildings lit with dots of light from inside through their windows. There’s no flowers here like there is in the rest of the heart. It seems … peaceful, to be quite honest.
Except, something still seems a bit off. The edges of your vision blur, as if this world itself is tenuous, and if you try to focus on your periphery too much it’s completely out of focus. It’s almost dreamlike, really, even though you’re conscious and aware of yourself.
There’s a man sitting at a bench with a book. It’s Ardyn, his hair longer, tied back in a ponytail. And instead of his Baritones robes he’s wearing black Ascian garb. When he sees you there’s a smile, soft, very unlike Absinthe’s typical sleezy sort of smirk. ]
[ oh no, he's reminded of the very depressing conversation they had their last heart-to-heart. So he's going to just stay there and wait for Emet to speak first ]
