YOU-kai start!
Who: YOU-kai
Where: The YOU-kai dorms
When: Day 355, morning
[ You all wake up in bed with your smartphone at your bedside, all of you in your sleepwear, with a message on your phone.
Good morning, newly departed guest stars! You've got new co-stars to meet, a new dorm to explore, and the television in the main room with the "names" of everyone in your unit with flashing empty boxes next to them, waiting for you to each assign yourself a personal color as well as a mythological creature (if that is available to you—some of you will have that option grayed out). Or assign them to each other, really, no one's stopping you.
Once you've chosen your color and creature (or, once it's chosen for you), your closets will unlock with 3 sets of traditional Japanese clothing fitted exactly to your size. Additionally, upon choosing your creature, you might find yourself suddenly with some new appendages (check Player Notes).
Also, the front door is currently locked. It looks like you actually have no choice but to get to know each other for an hour or two before those open up. ]

Her expression perks a bit, with interest. ]
I see. You are also an Eidolon.
What is "Kedamono"? It is not familiar to me.

Beast... no, I don't think so.
[ pauses, briefly. ]
The Eidola are those who have been cast out. Those whose previous selves are dead, or have been killed. Ones who can no longer claim what they were.
I am the Eidolon. If such a thing suits the path you have taken or been forced upon, so are you. But it is not a name, only a descriptor.
...
I, too, am without a name.
no subject
Would you prefer to remain without a name?
no subject
[ a thoughtful pause. ]
... I have no preference. It would perhaps be simpler for you and the others, to name me.
Would you?
no subject
no subject
Yes.
But I was asking if you, as well, would prefer to remain nameless. Should you extend that care to me, I would be happy to do the same.
no subject
It would be more familiar to me to be given a name, certainly. Ah, then... I will carefully consider what name to give you in turn, if I may ask your patience.
no subject
May I see your face?
no subject
[ pulls the face covering down and shifts the mask to rest on the side of her head
the rings around her eyes are currently pink ]

and it settles into something tired, but softer than her previous expression by half. her tail, still before now, moves in the slightest wave. ]
You remind me of someone.
no subject
Is that so? Who would that be?
no subject
[ a huff, and that same small smile. ]
You don't share their resemblance overmuch, looking at you more. But it was a pleasant surprise.
... How do you feel about "Tessera"?
no subject
... I see.
What does 'Tessera' mean?
no subject
We are here, we have met and spoken, you are contemplating a name for this old wandering dog. Now, you are an immutable part of my life.
no subject
she just. stands in silence and digests that for a bit.
eventually ]
I see. I would be honored to accept.
no subject
Her cheeks darken slightly, as she looks away. ]
No. I'm honored you would entertain such a suggestion in the first place.

If "Sanga" came forth to to you, I would be content to be called such. It is not as if I have exchanged others the same choice, and it is a lovely name.
... though the reef may be shallow, one must only choose to traverse beyond it to reach the depths. We have ample time to get to know one another. Meaning is formed from wealth of experience, after all.

she loves her.
lavender ]
I see... That's very wise. Thank you for granting me this name, Sanga-san.
no subject
It isn't-- wise, or anything that meaningful, so I'm sorry to have mislead you. I'm simply... I've had a lot of time, to think.
... but more importantly, I should thank you, Tessera. It has been many years since I have been more than Eidola.
no subject
You are welcome. If only for a brief time, I hope that we can grant Sanga-san something to return to.
no subject
An ear flicks. ]
...
Thank you.
[ she can't bring herself to be that wordy about it. ]
