When: Day 355, morning
[ You all wake up in bed with your smartphone at your bedside, all of you in your sleepwear, with a message on your phone.
Good morning, newly departed guest stars! You've got new co-stars to meet, a new dorm to explore, and the television in the main room with the "names" of everyone in your unit with flashing empty boxes next to them, waiting for you to each assign yourself a personal color as well as a mythological creature (if that is available to you—some of you will have that option grayed out). Or assign them to each other, really, no one's stopping you.
Once you've chosen your color and creature (or, once it's chosen for you), your closets will unlock with 3 sets of traditional Japanese clothing fitted exactly to your size. Additionally, upon choosing your creature, you might find yourself suddenly with some new appendages (check Player Notes).
Also, the front door is currently locked. It looks like you actually have no choice but to get to know each other for an hour or two before those open up. ]

I think that if we just do things alone though, we'll be at a big disadvantage too. After all, we're not the only ones who know people in the established units, sir.

Which is why, if you kids don't have any sense of preservation, it falls to the adults to just kill everyone else to keep you alive, I guess.

[ She snaps, rather instinctively and immediate. Her tone shifts into something akin to annoyance, dropping the childish tones of just moments ago, her hands curling into tight fists by her sides. ]

I don't want anybody to be killing anybody for a reason like that!

That's just how the world works, kid. If you aren't killing to protect something you love, then someone else will definitely kill you for it. I'd rather be useful to our unit as a sword, than as a corpse, just because I let a bunch of kids tell me to trust people I don't know.

This is fine. She's just going to annoyedly take a swig of her bottled wine before saying something. ]
Maybe in your world that is the case.
Killing for someone you love is just simply an "excuse". People can say they'll 'protect you', but they can also stab you in the back in spite of it. I know. But I'm tired of people having to kill each other, or even the idea that killing is the way to win in the long run.
... That feels like a game where there are too many losers. Even if it looks like the 'easy way out'.

I still think an alliance is one way to get us killed, but I do understand where you kids may disagree. Your hands aren't covered in blood yet, but if this place is going to make us kill anyway - no matter what alliance we make - you won't be getting out of that.

I don't think anyone said that we shouldn't be prioritizing our own unit. When worse comes to worst... we protect ourselves more than anyone else. But I think only in dire circumstances should we do that.
[ And then, she adds, a little quieter than usual, solemn: ]
