Yes - well, more than that, I think ... would it be okay if I asked to review it together...?
"It does seem like it's been a rather busy end to the semester... either that or Blackboard isn't posing my assignments, again. Yes, certainly—do have a seat for the moment."
She seems to be grading a stack of papers already, many of which she is marking with very low scores in red pen. "Now, I was going to set the due date for the paper in about five hours, but due to the assignment posting problem I suppose I can grant some extensions..."
"Oh, right. Well—the topic of the assignment is what you just experienced, and presenting a thesis on what it—and all of this—means." She gestures back at the library behind her. "You shouldn't need to do field research, although I'll accept any you've already done; the books here should be sufficient for references."
"Welcome," the professor says, briskly, tapping a stack of papers on her desk. "I'm glad you've finally arrived, since your assignment is due soon. I hope you were paying attention to the material, since I'm expecting a paper on the topic of its meaning."
[Another thing Alisaie feels entirely too comfortable with?
[Spinning lines of vaguely plausible-sounding bullshit to people in positions of academic power. Assignment? Due today? Absolutely, completely on top of that, I know entirely what you're talking about and am totally not screaming internally about all that required reading I utterly failed to requiredly read.]
Oh, of course. I was simply wondering if you had any further recommendations for wider reading. It can't hurt to ensure I'm covering all the bases.
"You shouldn't need to do field research, although I'll accept any you've already done; the books here should be sufficient for references. The shelves contain a wide variety of background reading, and there's a computer center if you want to look up particular keywords."
[Well, there are probably other 'students' around somewhere. And the research material itself should help provide some sort of context. She's not Alphinaud, but she's a quick reader, a fast learner, and can write legibly at speed (in Eorzean. Can Hope read Eorzean?) It will probably be all right.
[Probably.
[Perhaps.
[But, just in case: Alisaie can also read upside down. So she's going to try and read the papers on Hope's desk to see if the titles give her any further clues as to what in the seven hells she's supposed to be turning in. Discreetly.]

"Don't tell me the Office of the Registrar forgot to have you take the writing seminar, too...? Admin is such a mess this year. Anyway—to break it down, you'll be presenting a written argument for a thesis, supported by evidence. Does that make sense so far?"
The professor looks at you, pauses, and sighs. "I was going to place the due date in five hours, but since you all look a bit bewildered, I suppose I can be persuaded to allow for some extensions. Your best chance at full marks is to turn it in on the earlier side, though." She shrugs. "Please do make use of the additional sources in this library, though. It's important to have evidence to support your thesis, after all."
[Serenity would have expected this from Hope. And she has a few ideas about what might be expected of them here. But it's best to go straight to the source and be sure.
If it's "professor" then--]
Um... Professor?
Would you mind going over the outline of the assignment again? Just the basic principles, if it's not too much trouble.
She puts down her pen. "What you just witnessed—the topic of the paper should be to present a thesis on what it means, when combined with all the other research materials in this library. You needn't submit your own field research, although I'll accept it if you've already done some, of course."

I understand. Then, the books are there, and there are -

"Computers" ... Those large cellphones are in the other room ...
Thank you very much. In that case, would it be okay if we talked for a little while, first...?

Re: TALK TO THE PROFESSOR
[Which is a conundrum in itself, since I have no memories at all of my schooldays. Huh.]
I admit I'm not quite as familiar with computers, though. Mayhap I should head to the stacks?

[Of course Hope's heart has homework.]
How long do we have before we have to present them?
