I never said 'no' outside influence. But also babies have instincts. All creatures do and they don't need the environment to tell them to eat, hunt, and survive. That sort of stuff is hardwired into them. You throw somebody into a pit and they'll do whatever it takes to get out... die trying, if need be.
I think that's half true. Some things are just a part of a person, and I do think humanity is one of them... it's why a person can lose their humanity in the first place. But the concepts of humanity can't certainly be built upon from outside sources, since there is a lot to it.
I'll be honest. I think the answer is both, but that's not a choice. I don't think that one or the other is a suitable start for a robot, a human, a creature, or a whatever. It's like nature vs. nurture. But this is a game, so we have to make a choice, and based on my own experience I've said what I personally prefer.
I agree. I think both *are* important, and just because I'm arguing for one side I don't want you thinking I don't see the importance of the other.

Instinct is no different than what animals have. But if we are talking humanity, then it is something that has to be taught.

I have no interest in trying to change your mind on which to pick. But I do find the conversation fascinating.
