He gravitates to Nemesis first-- they both briefly clasp hands, relieved-- before turning back to you.

"The True Heart? Uh... no, dude, she's been gone for ages. Sorry. I've been trying to do something about the vampire problem."

Yeah, about that... I thought all the vampires were dead, she killed the Vampire King. Where're these ones coming from, and how long?

He looks uneasy. "... dunno. They were already junking up the place by the time I got here.

... And just cuz stuff dies out there doesn't mean stuff can't live forever in here."

Mm...

[There's no evidence against it, so]

So how's the vampire problem coming along? You got any of 'em? Found their lair?

"Well... I found Hierophant, but he's pretty aggressive so I haven't tried tackling him myself... but with three of us we should get this cleaned up lickity-split," Hurricane says, with a crooked, uneasy smile.

Nemesis looks uncertain, but nods.

And that's gonna help the villagers, or whatever...?

Hurricane looks uncertain, because, well, there are no villagers.

Nemesis offers, after a moment, "... maybe she'll come back, if they're gone."

[Lets that sit between them for a while]

...At any rate, leaving some asshole vampire in here's probably not good. We'll clear this up quick, find her, find that shadow, everything's good. Right?

Nemesis nods, and Hurricane says, "-- right. Let's do this." And he motions for you both to follow.

Go on, I'll catch up. Unless you want a gun?

[Time for a little inventory management... Offers Nem and Hurricane the bazooka and the lid, but otherwise leaves them behind. Wrinkling her nose at the odor, she slips on the rollerblades. In addition to the blade at her side and axe on her back, the stake and health potion get slipped into her uniform, suddenly all that military BS has a purpose. The chicken goes into the bucket with the other pinecone and Bphone. THEN she goes skating after them PHEW]

[Along the way she keeps an eye out for danger or clues, INT 8, if that does anything]

"Uh-- no on the gun, but thanks..."

Nemesis takes the lid, but neither of them seem to be able to carry the bazooka, both having two-handed weapons. But they start off, and it's maybe a block or so to catch back up to them. Not hard at all.

You don't notice anything, but Hurricane motions around the edge of a building, where you can see a man with fuzzy ears and a lion's tail in a big fur coat wandering around, sniffing the air. You've definitely seen this one in Req's memories before.

[Yeah...yeah, that'll be a thing. But definitely not somebody she wants to leave running around in Req's heart, for sure. Does he seem to be heading anywhere or is he just...pacing? Or coming towards them; maybe they should've talked about strategies at any point??

At any rate, she points at the two of them and gestures further down, either around or through the building--doing hand gestures that hopefully someone understands as "let's try to flank this guy"]

Nemesis peers around-- freezes up for a moment-- before nodding at your direction, and after a moment goes to head around the building. Hurricane stays with you, staff at the ready.

Mostly, it seems like Hierophant is pacing-- or maybe looking for something. At any rate, he stops, and turns towards the edge of the building you're both hiding behind.

"Let's just get this over with, shall we?" he says. "I'm pretty hungry over here."

[Exchanges a look with Hurricane--touches his arm and casts Protect on him.]

[And then she skates back around the building, summoning up a cocky grin]

You and me both! You're not much of a host, I gotta say.

Hurricane remains where he is, hidden but within range of you.

Hierophant turns to focus on you, and looks unamused, huffing. "Oh, you. Should have known. What are you even wearing? You look like a scrub," he says, then pauses, and continues, "I don't know what you think you're going to accomplish here by killing us, you know."

You can see Nemesis Turn the corner behind Hierophant, drawing her sword, but looking nervous.

--Excuse you, I look great in this. And I'm pretty sure what I'd accomplish is that you'd be gone, and the True Heart can return.

...What d'you mean, "us"? That just a royal "we"?

Hierophant sssiiiiiighs. "We, as in the vampires, you dink."

Nemesis looks at you for direction. Sword??? Yes??

[Gives a tiny shake of her head, thinking aloud]

Yeah, but... Look. Marceline's a vampire, right? And you...you're part of her too, right?

[She skates closer to Hierophant, points at him, frowning]

I've seen your memory. You're like a super douchebag and I'd love to punch that smirk off your muzzle. But... If I just come in here and hate on all the vampires, that's a big part of her that I'm saying is bad and has to be killed off...right? So... Yeah, no.

He lifts his head to look down his nose at you (even though you're taller), tail lashing. He grimaces.

"A touching sentiment," he says. "Your human emotions are truly something else."

And he lunges forward, swiping a claw at you-- just enough to barely catch your cheek, for 1 damage.

[Flinches away, then--

Clucks her tongue, less mad and more disappointed. But doing her best to seem like there's a chance he can do better! She rolls CHA 18, so maybe he will feel properly shamed]

Bad kitty! Didn't anyone ever tell you things go easier when you try being nice? Now, tell me where the True Heart is, this's dumb.

He doesn't seem so much shamed as annoyed, and he lunges for her again-- misses entirely, as Nemesis smacks her sword against a trash can, startling him. She starts to approach, calling out with some nervousness-- "Nem, what're you doing?"

He whips back towards you, though, growling. "If I knew THAT, I would have already eaten her."

.........Maybe not this time.

[This time, when he tries to approach, she'll punch at him, since she really does want to (it's a 19STR to hit)]

It doesn't take much. Just as the last one, he abruptly shatters into a hundreds of tiny pieces, and fades away, leaving only a vial of dark, thick liquid.

Nemesis finishes closing the gap between you, and Hurricane comes over too, staring at the vial. "... huh."

Nemesis says, after a moment, "... why'd you do that? Talk to him like that."

[Well

Now she feels kinda bad about it]

[Takes the vial, tho, and tucks it in with the other, and turns to Nemesis]

...I like Marceline. I care about her. And--and that means all of her, not just the parts that're easy to deal with and don't suck out your blood or whatever. I dunno if that's the right way to do it, you of all people should know about how bad I am with this sorta thing. And I wouldn't've let you guys get hurt. But...

[She frowns again, looking away]
