Castle Game: LiliS
[Suddenly, you hear the wailing of a horn. Outside, tension is turning to panic. You can't see anything, but you can hear people gathering up their things, sobbing in fear or speaking in harsh whispers. A lone voice calls from the distance:
The enemy approaches!
Upon the map, an unfamiliar geography appears -- several small nations, clustered together. Outside of them, an endless sea of enemy forces, identified only by a symbol of a cracked skull. Each of the small nations is marked with a flag in one unit's colour, and a tiny model of a castle.
You are at war. How will you protect your people and yourself?]

Re: DISCUSSION
Helping them could be our heads, though. Not that they have much ground to stand on.
Re: DISCUSSION
I can stomach some pain if it means sparing others a worse fate.

Re: DISCUSSION
It is not a decision I would ever make for us.
However, given we do not have many secure allies here, we are also a likely target for any thefts that may occur. Donating what we have ensures we have at least some say in who these materials aid.
[ she looks out over the battlement, considering the weakest-looking castles and the color flags they fly ]
Re: DISCUSSION
[for some reason, because mom and dad agreed on something]
Re: DISCUSSION
Have they done that in the past? Treated our deaths as having a quota?
Re: DISCUSSION
Re: DISCUSSION
I wonder if my theory that the rules indicate that multiple thefts from the same unit function to generate more resources than originally existed, by these rules, and that is how our collective success has manifested.
—Almost impossible to trace, of course. I have a head for strategy, not mathematics.
Regardless, you have certainly done your part to set an example of aggressive strategies. I would hear what the youths think of things for our castle's last stand.
Re: DISCUSSION
Still think you should give them that win, though.
Re: DISCUSSION
If they want the loss more, what matters most, as I said, is that they feel they are choosing it.
We all know that winning from this point would be trivial.
Re: DISCUSSION
Re: DISCUSSION
Yes.
But we are not an army. Regardless of how much more straightforward it would make things.
Re: DISCUSSION
[and time to drink more bourbon, thanks]
Re: DISCUSSION
If anyone here is qualified to know the difference, it's certainly me.
[ a beat, realizing he's never seen any of her memories ] Apparently I once made something of a name for myself that way.
Except for Asphodel, they're all youths—barely more than children. I won't make them into soldiers.
...And besides. [ meeting his eyes ] If we were an army at war, everyone would stay dead.
