Pokemon: Downtown
This is where people come to play it seems. The Battle Arena, where you can challenge your friends, rivals, or anyone really, sits side-by-side the town's Pokemon Center where you can get your Pokemon healed for free after a rousing battle. You and your Pokemon partner (even your entire unit!) can star in short plays to be aired at the movie theater or even beauty pageants showcasing their new hair-cuts and clothes. There's a karaoke bar, a small theme park, an arcade.

[The Riolu bounces on his little toe pads with the lightness of a fighter. Yip!]
All right, cool guy - you're on!

Any house rules or are we going by first pokemon to faint loses?

Fainting or tap out. Sound good t'you?

[And Dratini glides over there as well, spinning happy circles until Intensity announces:]
Game start!
[Then she tries to dive between Rook's legs]

[Taking after his trainer's penchant for being extra, Rook leaps over the dive and fires off a Force Palm as he's in mid-air - landing on all fours behind Dratini.]

Drati?
[Where did everyone go--
KER-FORCED PALMED as Dratini eats arena floor (though miss on the 30% chance to paralyze).
She's on her ... tail soon enough, whipping around to face Rook. Like master, like Pokemon Dratini uses Glare I mean Leer as she puffs up to her full height]

He gives a little puppy huff - no, stay calm. Taking a fighting stance, he readies himself to counter whatever this tall noodle could throw at him.]

Time to get UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL.
HI! ROOK! We're beeeeeest~ friends]

When Dratini tightens around him, Rook makes a grab for his face before his arms could get pinned down. Wrestling the snake into a headlock, he slams himself to the ground, with the brunt of the impact going to the noodle wrapped around him.]

Dratini makes a sound like a balloon deflating because that's sure what it feels like when you're a noodle and all the air gets knocks out of you.
DRATINI uses FLAIL. It's not very effective.
Intensity, face in hands:]
Dratini...

[THEY'RE STILL ENTANGLED while Dratini flailed about, so it's just... an ugly mess of blue coils and limbs. What the hell is even happening. But somewhere in that tangle, Rook managed to get a paw free to Force Palm him again. EAT SHOCKWAVE HANDS]

If this were an anime--- wait, yes it is! With little stars circling around her head.

[Griffin fist pumps in the air as Rook gets up, joy in his face. The pup runs towards him for a hug, but before he makes it, his body's enveloped in bright light - changing. Growing larger, sharper. When he hit Griffin in an embrace, he was a Lucario.
Also I forgot that Lucario has, like, a spike just sticking straight out his chest, so. That's not comfortable to hug.]
Ow! What the heck?

Good sir. Did you just impale yourself on your Pokemon. Also, what that the result of the battle XP or the power of friendship? (Can never know with this game).
After the initial shock, though, Intensity crouches down next to Dratini and carefully explains]
You know. You get more XP when you win, right?
[To which she just irritably smacks him with her tail. YES. SHE KNOWS.
But makes a sort of congratulatory (if weak) trill in Rook's direction]
