IMPOCALYPSE
BATTLE MECHANICS
Note: characters that are heavily injured may acquire corruptions. There will be heavy maiming.
- This is a turn-based fight. PCs will take their turn, the boss will react, and then the boss will take their turn. Players will react and take their turn, and so on and so forth.
- You may take up to six actions in one turn, including dodge. You may attack up to 6 times if you're not dodging, and you can attack even if you are dodging or fail to dodge. If a swing delivers more than one attack (throwing multiple projectiles at the same time) then it's counted as one "action".
- With every strike/blow/attack, .roll 1d6 twice (or !2d6. MAKE SURE TO DO IT THIS WAY BECAUSE NADEKO IS A TRAITOR. The first dice determines whether your attack succeeds or fails, with 1-3 as fail and 4-6 as success. The second dice determines how much damage you inflict on the boss. Please include both numbers with your comment on your turn.
- Roll for every strike, not for every turn. If your character decides to shoot 4 times in succession, roll a 2d6 for every bullet.
- Green text can be dodged, but red text is guaranteed damage. Dodge by using a 1d6, 1-3 as fail and 4-6 as success.
- UNIT ABILITY MECHANICS ARE HERE, but please note: this is not the end-all be-all of how these powers can be used, and these are not the only powers that can be used in a fight, these are just the ones that affect rolls specifically. The session's runner always has the final say, so ask if you want to do something cool but you don't think it's street legal. (It probably is.)
Note: characters that are heavily injured may acquire corruptions. There will be heavy maiming.
EFFECTS LIST
- Black substance, both sticky and acidic
- A sticky substance that seems to cling to everything it touches, and is impossible to pull off. It melts through flesh, but the more it melts, the more it seems to become absorbed. Sufficient absorption of this substance in any capacity (skin absorption, digestion) will result in corruptions that may be permanent. May be removed by severing the affected area, or by bringing the affected area to the deadzone.

BOSS REACTION
It also seems to be fairly conscious of Blue Eyes, at least a couple of heads turning to look—one of them is distracted enough to be knocked clean off by the power of Man Eater's punch. One of the wings is cut at the joint by Cardinal, while the other is swiped by Amaranth—they crumble into ash at the joints, and the wings begin to fall . . .
In the meantime, several more heads are cut down and sliced apart by Kohime and Nemesis and Lancelot and especially Sabre, whose Hellfire cleaves so cleanly through the bones that it almost seems like she could just cut a path through its body, especially with Hurricane's and Hiryuu's help on its sides. ]
BOSS ACTION
Its wings crash onto the ground—maybe that wasn't such a good idea though, as they hit with such force that the ground shakes and cracks, making everyone lose their footing (except for avantes). Hunny will find one of his feet stuck in one of the newly made crevices, only for the ground to shift more and crush his ankle.
The beast rears back a claw, stabbing it into the ground—it uproots the earth, flinging debris into Amaranth, Nemesis, and K amongst others—there's a chance for everyone else to get hit by the debris as well. ]

While bouncing off a piece of debris, she twists in midair and hefts the blade at the monster again.

But the gas corrodes her blade (2), sizzling against her flames and leaving a streak of rust along one crack. ]
Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
[When the ground shakes, he goes down, losing his footing, and that's about when the debris hits Nemesis and K. He screams, feeling their pain - can't get to his feet again fast enough to avoid the rest of the flying rubble. He gets clipped in the shoulder, the side, the meaty part of his upper thigh - grits his teeth, and forces himself back to standing as soon as the ground stops moving]
[He presses reassurance and determination out toward Nemesis, K, and Hiryuu through the emotional link - darts in, deadzone mud-coated blades flashing, to try and keep this thing's attention on him and buy them some time]

Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
His insides are burning but he's determined to keep fighting. One strike misses ( 1 ) as he tries to regain his bearings from breathing in the gas and the unsettling murderous rage he's feeling resounding in his head through his connection to Hiryuu. But the other four find their mark; attacking the beast's leg ( 4 6 5 2 ) with the mud bonus of ( 4 ) for a total of ( 21 ).]
Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
But the uprooted earth reminds her: ah yes, there are roots here.
Amaranth reaches out with Rapunzel, LiliS magic coursing through the sakura trees, sending their roots twining around the bone dragon's legs as their branches burst into unseasonal bloom, creating a shower of petals for any nearby avantes to run on.
Then she's flying back in with the wind, coming in at the beast's flank for another flurry of attacks.

But Juniper Tree can't protect her from the gas (3), which leaves her coughing blood. ]
Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
Whatever. Pain is just a weakness leaving the body.
Why not just let the close-range DPS take care of this one?
And just Polarize the pieces of it together to stun it/keep it from moving forward. Assuming Polarize does damage.
Some dragon jaw #1: 6 - 6 damage
Some dragon jaw #2: 4 - 2 damage
8 damage total.]
Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
TONIGHT IN DRAGON RIDERS OF TOKYO-F
[Not that this helps with the FLUNG DEBRIS.
[Okay. OKAY.
[We'll check for damage later there seems to be quite a lot of it limbs aren't working right ribs are fucked... Fortunately, he's got a Plan B, or Intensity has anyway so:
[He drags himself up and onto Blue Eyes and lets the dragon do the hard work of maneuvering itself up and - whoa - dizzily into the air as he quickly but clumsily busies himself with the petrol bombs. There's enough for three of them, and that's gonna have to be enough.
[K thinks he's got an angle on the thing but Foresight tells him otherwise (1, 1, 3) so he grits his teeth and waits, clinging onto Blue Eyes as the dragon dips lower over the wounded monster, then leaning dizzily over the side to hurl the petrol bombs straight at it--

Re: TONIGHT IN DRAGON RIDERS OF TOKYO-F
(Or for any of you that play Monster Hunter, this is a Betelgeuse bombing.)
And then swoops out of range in an attempt to deposit K well out of monster reach]
Re: TONIGHT IN DRAGON RIDERS OF TOKYO-F
[On the other THAT WAS THE MOST AWESOME THING EVER.]
Re: TONIGHT IN DRAGON RIDERS OF TOKYO-F
Yes, good K.
Praise this dragon.]
Re: TONIGHT IN DRAGON RIDERS OF TOKYO-F
Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
fuck this. he's turning into something without ankles. FORM OF, JAPANESE SPIDER CRAB. (ACTION 1) it has an exoskelleton!! AND IN CRAB FORM, far more slender and 3 feet of spider being still smaller than TIGER, the debris soars over him.
now all there's left to do is to PINCH THIS DRAGON AGGRESSIVELY. the form is very different than human though so his coordination isn't. great. along with the pain from the POISON GAS
(rolls for success: 1 2 2 5 6. 2 successes, 3 failures.
rolls for damage: 5, 6. 11 damage done total) ]
Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
[How do bones have lungs??? --Luckily, Nemesis can scuttle out of the way of the gas and mouth off at the same time (6); it'd worked out to stay out of melee range after all.
But of course boss monsters gonna boss monster, and when it stabs into the ground, it sends cracks through the pavement, a far-too-large chunk of concrete sidewalk getting her full in the face (1).
She goes down like a rock, only barely missing being subsequently crushed by said concrete by a conveniently placed mailbox that takes the brunt of the blow, the metal crumpling in ways she is thankful her skull did not. A quick breath and Warpstrikes out to safety (5 1 5 1), dropping to a knee on the wall on the far side of the street.
With a curse, she attempts to Living Forge at the dragon again (4 4 4 3 = 7pt damage) before lying back against the wall to try and catch her breath]

Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
he jumps back down from the dragon, giving it a few solid kicks on his way down (attack roll: 1 4 5 3, damage rolls: 2 4 4). ]
BOSS REACTION
Hurricane's blades cut through the arm, and that crumbles too—K's petrol bombs help dismember the limb completely. Nemesis and Man Eater are good at keeping the demon pinned the fuck down with their blows, Intensity's Polarity certainly helping keep it stay tethered in its spot, and Hunny's pinch and Cardinal's stabs into the wing joint are enough to have it stall long enough to be unable to react to the cuts to the flank and leg by Amaranth and Lancelot—its leg then crumbles too, barely on its last threads, while the hip starts to come undone too.
It looks like it's falling apart. ]
BOSS ACTION
Deep inside the spine is safe enough, however, the miasma is more concentrated—Sabre will need to roll a 5-6 to avoid getting poisoned while she's moving further into the demon—she might want to get out, but it seems the tidal wave colliding with the wounded areas seal her inside the darkness.
Hunny will find his arms to be pulled into the leg, as tiny hands reach out to pull him in and try to absorb him.
If you are not Hunny, you must roll for the poisonous gas outside. If you are Sabre, you don't need to roll twice, just for the poisonous gas room you're trapped in. ]

Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
[Problem is now that he's down on the ground, K isn't sure he can get up again. His leg feels huge and heavy and looks painfully wrong; his shoulder's fucked, just breathing hurts, and then there's--
[Jesus.
[Well, that's not good--]
