princess maker - Heart Soldier Senshi

[ When you insert the key and open the door, you'll find yourself in a humble cottage, in what seems to be the living room specifically. There are several doors, but a specific one catches your eye: simple in its decoration, the door has a cute little wooden plaque with flowers carved into it. Though the door is closed, you can see through it—as if it's somewhat transparent.

A wooden cradle sits in the room beyond, which is otherwise plain. Inside, a baby sleeps peacefully. When she stirs, calling for her parent, you are there to cradle her back to sleep. ]

[ Slowly, the scene changes, fading in and out with various silent scenes—the baby coos pleasantly, giggling jovially when you (presumably) make faces at her; she tries to pick herself up and falls over, but she does not cry; a disagreement between you and her lead to a thoughtful discussion; the young girl carries a large laundry basket to do chores; she buys a pet bird, looking so proud for having earned the money all by herself; then the wall becomes opaque. ]

[ In the middle of the open doorway, a young girl the age of 10 stands, smiling at you. A bird with beautiful plumage rests on her shoulder.

This is your daughter. You tried your best to rear her, and she's been good to you. You know she is capable of anything if she puts her mind to it - even becoming a princess. But you also know it's not easy to become a princess - she'll have to work hard, and she's capable of it but you'll have to guide her hand, most certainly. Better she become a princess than go off to war, though; you could not stand to see your baby girl die on the battlefield. Whether she actually becomes a princess or not . . . well, that's up to fate, isn't it? All you can do is try your best. ]

You find yourself in a moral dilemma. . . while your daughter has proven herself repeatedly to not be a thief, rumors keep growing - viciously and endlessly. She has friends, at least, but the rest of the class ostracizes her, regarding her as a criminal-to-be.

Your daughter doesn't seem terribly bothered by this, however.

What do you do?

[SPEED RUNNING THESE DILEMMAS we're going to make a start on Joy's HERO PRINCESS image. Mori sweeps her up into his arms all cheerful and encouraging and asks her if she wants to go help people in town today, they'll be doing volunteer work regularly and making a concerted effort to help the community, making sure she is seen and known by the townspeople she's lending a hand to, and also practicing her martial arts training more intensely.

They will tell her openly that they're going to make a start on defending the people, standing up to bullies and working on moving onto stopping CRIMES, but they're not there yet. Gonna do a few training sessions with her mom and dads first.

Hiryuu and King also go investigate some real crimes in disguise. GOING UNDERCOVER!]

Your daughter, of course, wants to go help people in town. You and she do volunteer work regularly - the gossip seems to stop at the school walls, so she very quickly gains a repertoire of being the helpful daughter of the kindly knights; she practices her martial arts training more intensely as well, learning how to kick ass.

She learns to defend the people around her - to be a hero. She's there for her classmates' moments of weakness - there are bullies at her school, so of course she defends the meek from them. She does her best to stand up to every injustice done to herself and done to everyone around her.

Hiryuu and King learn that there are some real crimes that happen in this town, probably. It turns out that the nobleclass in this town have a particularly sick hobby - trafficking.

No, not of people - at least, not by any nobleperson's standards. You are of the military, however; you're aware of what Plague Bearers really are: they're people with deformities, people with mental illness, people with unnatural abilities. Magic users - people who can transform, people who can heal, people who can . . . charm. They're considered to be unclean, considered closer to the Plagues that roam the earth than they are humans given flesh by the Great Liberator: Plague Bearers are more monsters than they are men.

You're familiar with Plague Bearers as humans because you worked with them. You fought on the battlefield with them; many Plague Bearers died for your life. However, most of the populace don't see Plague Bearers that way; they consider them to be sick and diseased, societal lepers. The military is the only place that would accept a Plague Bearer - after all, the military always needs cannon fodder.

(It's because of Plague Bearers that your land has this tradition: children aren't named until they reach the age of 10. Most cases of Plague breaking out happen at a young age; the children are immediately taken to the Capital, often considered by that point dead. What's the point of naming something that won't make it through childhood?)

Nobles - the nobles of this town particularly - view Plague Bearers in a different light. When you have money, you can have anything - any sort of exotic pet, and that's what the nobility of this town like to think Plague Bearersare. Hiryuu and King discover this then: a trafficking ring of children and infants and some stray older adolescents to be sold as entertainment for the nobility to do as they like, whether it's experimenting on them or forcing cruelties onto them or keeping them as cute, cute pets.

The girl's parents happen to be avid fans of Plague Bearer trafficking - they're particularly avid about auctioning and watching the circus of subhuman treatment, and they own a few Plague Bearers themselves.

This is kept behind barred doors sealed shut; money and power shuts lips and eyes, after all. It's a miracle that Hiryuu and King find this out in the first place - but miracles don't happen twice.

Upon discovering this information, they're caught - both King and Hiryuu, their Heart Weapons no match for the military's own Plague Bearer force.

Deemed Plague Bearers themselves, Hiryuu and King . . . are sent to the Capital.

You learn all of this information - one of them manages to send the information back somehow. You also learn of their fates that night, when soldiers come to your door to give the bad news - your old coworkers who discovered this and stowed away in the middle of the night to inform you.

In the morning, your property will be investigated. They wanted to make sure you were prepared.

Joy learns all of this in her pajamas, having been awoken in the middle of the night. She is now motherless, and papaless.

Your daughter's temperament is fair.

Your daughter's morality is good.
