Pokemon: Downtown
This is where people come to play it seems. The Battle Arena, where you can challenge your friends, rivals, or anyone really, sits side-by-side the town's Pokemon Center where you can get your Pokemon healed for free after a rousing battle. You and your Pokemon partner (even your entire unit!) can star in short plays to be aired at the movie theater or even beauty pageants showcasing their new hair-cuts and clothes. There's a karaoke bar, a small theme park, an arcade.

No - none of those fears mattered more than making sure he was okay. He pushes the button and--
His pup is back. Big red eyes blinking sleepily, confused by these new surroundings. But in an instant, Griffin was on him - wrapping his arms around the dog in a hug of relief.]
Thank god. I'm sorry, I'll do better--
[Before he crumbled into an apologetic mess, Riolu's starts wagging, and he nuzzles back with puppy licks to the face]

I'm glad he's alright, Griffin.
[ she thought this game wasn't supposed to be horrible and yet this was one of the hardest things she's had to endure in a long time. ]

His little paws balled into fists and he barked like he was excited for a rematch. He could take them on next time, for sure.
Griffin blinks, honestly shocked. Damn. His dog was a fighter.]

For the love of- [ she grabs his arm and yanks him back. ] You sure about this? [ looks to riolu and then to griffin, frowning, because she's honestly terrified of this happening again. ]

There's no keepin' you down, huh. I guess I can relate. You wanna get stronger too, right?
[Riolu nods his head and barks. Well... how could Griffin deny this little scrapper? Even if he had to swallow down his own heart, pounding with fear in his chest.]
Then let's take it outside. That cool, D.Va?

...
Uh, y- yeah, sure. Maybe to the, ah, battle arena.
[ gabite punches his own fists together, thrilled that his friend is okay and would like to continue to play. ]

Griffin notices this too.]
Hey.
It's not your fault.
no subject
It wouldn't have happened if I was a responsible trainer...

We're all new t'this, all right? It's okay.

[ he looks back at her and makes a few noises while nodding his head. ]
Let's head out.

Griffin tries to keep his tone light, but he's worried too.]
How 'bout-- they can have their rematch another time. Once they're really ready. We have plenty of time to hone up on our training.

Riolu, what do you want to do? If you'd like to test your mettle against Sharknado, then we can head to the Battle Arena. [ gabite, stomps his feet and gets in a ready position, though his expression betrays him, because he's looking more playful than serious. ]

So maybe it's not surprising that he puts his paw on D.Va's hand empathetically, with a look of understanding in his eyes. No fighting if it makes her sad. Then...
Points his other paw toward the ritzy sweets shop across the street. Griffin laughs,]
I guess they do deserve a treat after all that.
no subject
I think we could all use a treat. [ or a drink. ] Gabite? Gabite! Gab! [ did someone say food? he's all for that! ]
