Pokemon: Downtown

This is where people come to play it seems. The Battle Arena, where you can challenge your friends, rivals, or anyone really, sits side-by-side the town's Pokemon Center where you can get your Pokemon healed for free after a rousing battle. You and your Pokemon partner (even your entire unit!) can star in short plays to be aired at the movie theater or even beauty pageants showcasing their new hair-cuts and clothes. There's a karaoke bar, a small theme park, an arcade.

[The Marill ungracefully wiggles up there to take a look, tilting its head to the side curiously, before hopping back down and out of the booth chattering excitedly –– apparently trying to get someone's attention.]

[Oh for sure, she's either in denial or just lying, she's absolutely a cat.

Or maybe she just doesn't really know what a cat's like.]


Stick together to do what? They didn't even give us a real assignment, just "here's a weird little water creature, off you go"!

Explore the town, bond with this Marill. For more specific things to do, they posted a set of tasks in the lab you can complete to receive items to evolve them.

You can Deliver mail to 10 residences; Win 5 Pokemon matches; Build a Hideout for your Unit and your Pokemon; Help the construction crew build the day care center; Outfit your Unit's Pokemon to match your style; Share a karaoke jam session with your unit and their Pokemon; Participate in a sand-castle contest; Win the admiration of your peers in a Beauty Contest; Receive a round of applause for putting on a show at the movie theater; or Herd some rowdy livestock.

That's what I remember reading anyway.

All of that sounds terrible except maybe the matches.

[Looks at her Marill, which. . . burbles and chirps happily.]




And I'm, like, completely sure that's not gonna be an option here.

[Ssssstares at the little water pokemon, just getting increasingly frustrated.]

If the rules are this open, it's unlikely that anyone would fail just because you two seem disparate.

They like you well enough, so maybe it might enjoy things you like.

[ he's fancy in his vest and bow tie, chirping a greeting. ]

[The Marill chirps back a friendly greeting to St. Germain, then repeats it to Yvette. Kohime just watches on, quietly.]

Did you want to get your picture taken too?

[ bending down to show it the photos of herself and St. Germain that just got printed out. There's sparkle foil hearts and stars Yvette drew in. ]

[He prrts and jumps up and down, toddling back towards the booth.]

Okay, come on Kohime. Picture time! I can work the machine settings for you.

I think that's what it wants.

Kohime creeps over, her tail twitching, sniffing at the machine dubiously.]
