✾ You are reduced to (or brought up to) regular human levels of health, stamina, strength, etc. If you are inhuman, you may now partake in human foods. Your appearance, however, is unchanged. ✾ You have a badge fastened visibly to your clothes. It cannot be removed, and if you attempt to cover it with other clothing, it appears fastened to whatever your topmost layer is. Five stones dangle from it on chains; the first is ruby red and glowing faintly, while the remaining four are crystal clear and seemingly inert. The stones cannot be damaged. ✾ You do not have phones. However, you can talk with anyone who is in the same area as you - any exceptions to this will be noted. ✾ Your goal is to purify the heart. However, there may be other things you can affect as well... ✾ Although all top level setting details are the same for everyone, not everything that characters interact with will appear the same to everyone in the room. Ping the runner if two characters are trying to examine the same thing.
You step into a gilded room. At one end is a Gilded Door. The walls of the room are lined with tables full of food; if you can imagine it, it's there, even if it wasn't a second ago.
Shadowy silhouettes flit around the room forming quite the crowd. Although you get the sense that they are speaking, you can never quite make out any words, and trying to listen or engage with them leads to nothing; it's almost as though you are on a slightly different plane and unable to interact with them whatsoever, even if you are aware of their presence.
In a corner of the room is a Stage with a shadow attendant who appears slightly more solid. There is also a set of doors leading to a Hallway
[After a moment of awe and no small amount of confusion Serenity approaches the stage quietly, looking to the attendant. They look a little more “here” than the others, so...]
[ Amaranth shifts her weight uneasily as the shadows pass by her, before turning her attention to the strange badge. ]
...Hearthstones, perhaps...
[ It's murmured; just talking to herself. But she's not inclined to get too up in her own head, and there's at least one shadow here who looks like they might perceive her—so that's where she starts: headed towards the Stage and attendant. ]
Before you is an ostentatious golden door. A large padlock is glaringly out of place upon it, but also a clear sign that you will not be able to progress unless the lock is dealt with.
To the side of the main hall is a temporary stage. The pieces can all be swapped in or out, and there are a number of items backstage that can be utilized by performers. One of the current props is a large pot containing a gorse plant. Well, for given definition of “containing” - it’s beginning to crack along the sides...
A jovial silhouette stands nearby, although little can be seen of their features.
"Are you thinking of performing? Performances can really set the mood of the party. That's why there's screens set around the place for everyone to see when someone decides to do something. You should give it a try!"
From this vantage point, you can see a door that practically blends in with the wall.
[ That gorse catches her eye right away; she spent far too long on LiliS not to be intensely attuned to flowers as symbols. But gorse was... another name for the ulex plant, which was.... humility? She's not certain if that really fits Izanagi or not.
But first things first: responding to the attendant. ]
"...Mmn, my best demonstrations are done with a weapon in hand—and I prefer not to show anything short of my best. Unless you can provide at least a staff...?"
You step into a laboratory with a stained glass window depicting snowdrops.
The labs are a clean, sterile white that doesn’t match at all with the rest of the building. There's a book sitting conspicuously on a table full of empty beakers and other glassware meant for measuring. There's a set of lockers on one wall; each locker has the name of one of the current explorers inscribed upon it. Additionally, there is a counter with a double sink set into it; both hand soap and dish soap are available and marked accordingly, along with sponges and paper towels that can be discarded in a nearby trash can.
You may return to the Stage or otherwise Main Hall from here.
You enter an opulent hallway, filled with shadowy silhouettes flitting about.
The whispers are agonizingly close to audible here, but not quite loud enough to parse. One gets the sense that this is where guests gather to talk gossip. Indeed, in the center of the hallway near the wall is a small table with slips of paper and a gilded box. Instructions attached to the wall read:
To hear, you must tell. Share a piece of yourself, and an equivalent piece shall be revealed. A surface truth for a surface truth, a deep secret for a deep secret.
The table with the box of secrets is right at the fork in the hallway, with one path branching to the left. There is a door with a stained glass window if you continue down the hall and a door with a silver handle if you take the path to the left. You may also return to the main hall from here.
((OOCly, if your character chooses to submit a secret, grade the level of secrecy of your character's submission A-E, with A being one of their deepest secrets they would be reluctant to reveal to anyone and E being something anyone could find out if they asked. Don't think too hard on it.))
The following secrets have been revealed, and can be heard by all who pass through the room:
It's hard to reconcile one side of my memories with the other
Did you hear? They say the priest of the chapel isn’t very trustworthy. It seems he’s a master manipulator... Creepy!
it's really rude to share someone's secrets shared in confidence!!!!
Did you hear? They say the master of the house is a full-blooded devil. How scary!
I feel like parts of my identity are broken in several pieces and I'm not sure how all of them come together yet or if one is more "me" than the others.
Did you hear? They say the young master is a clone. It might have an impact on his health... how sad.
A small part of me is glad I died that day though to hold such thoughts is foolish.
Apparently the master of the house only pretends to get along with others... He really is just stringing everyone along, isn’t he? Can he really be trusted?
No one should be alone
I am jealous. I would It is not that I would keep them for myself, but I fear losing them. It is an ugly emotion.
Did you hear? Apparently there’s a hospital below the mansion. They say someone sleeps there eternally... I wonder how you get there?
You enter a dark chapel. The only lighting comes from flickering candles on either sides of the aisles and pews, as well as what shines through the stained glass window depicting iris flowers. A more solid silhouette tends to the altar underneath the stained glass window.
This place is no less exquisite than the rest of the place. The many books contain all kinds of information, with quite a few shelves taken up by texts on biology, human genetics, and medicine in particular. Off to the side is a desk upon which five journals sit, each emblazoned with a name - the names of all characters currently perusing this place, in fact. Pens are also available, chained to the desk but well within reach of the books' pages. It would be a fascinating place to sit and study... if it weren’t for the wild roses growing out of one of the shelves, the flowers beginning to obscure the books it holds.
There’s some scattered books set on tables and chairs around the area, and some things of note with the shelves other than the plant life. You can return to the hallways from here.
